Good Riddance

Anna” POV

Later that afternoon, we returned from the hospital where Nikki had given birth to her beautiful baby girl, Izzy. As I held the tiny bundle of joy in my arms, I could feel Denton's eyes on me. Him and Sarah had come to visit, but as soon as they walked in, they quickly left without even acknowledging the new addition to the family. Sarah handed Nikki a gift and hugged her, not even bothering to ask to hold the baby.

Denton leaned against the door frame, his gaze fixed on me. I could sense the urgency in the room, perhaps they were in a rush. Denton couldn't hold the baby, but his eyes seemed to silently express a desire to do so.

At least I think so because he was watching me very intently as I held the baby in my arms.

As I walked up to Carter and his mother, who were visiting Mrs. Rose on the porch, I asked if I could speak with him. We both started talking at the same time, laughing at the coincidence. Carter insisted I go first, but I urged him to speak.

"I just wanted to apologize for kissing you the other night, Carter. I shouldn't have done that. I've been thinking about it a lot since then," I said, sincerely.

Carter responded, "I know, and I am sorry for leading you on. I don't see you in a romantic way, Anna. And to be honest, I just started seeing someone and things are going well."

I was taken aback and hurt by his words, but I managed to reply calmly, "I understand, Carter."

He continued, "I want you to know that I will always be there for you, just like I am for my sister and friends."

I nodded, understanding his intentions, but still feeling a tinge of disappointment. Despite it all, I knew that Carter would always be a good friend to me.

Holding back some tears, I smile at Carter .

We hug it out” I look at him and say sure with a little crack in my voice. As we go to do a quick hug.

In that moment, I heard blood-curdling screams coming from Evan's house. Without hesitation, I sprinted across the field, my heart racing with fury. My eyes locked onto Seth, who was viciously pummeling EJ. I wasted no time and forcefully pulled Seth off EJ, despite his attempts to bite and kick me. I pinned him down, willing him to calm down.

Through gritted teeth, I growled at Seth, "What the hell is your problem? You need to calm the hell down." But instead of listening, he hurled insults at me, screaming and yelling at me saying to get off me you fat, ugly cow."

Just then, Sarah came running towards us, her eyes blazing with anger. She screamed at me, "Get your freaking hands off my son!"

I took a step back and retorted, "Your son is the aggressor he went berserk and was beating EJ to a pulp!" My words were drowned out by the sound of Denton and Carter's arrival. They took one look at EJ and noticed his broken nose and busted lip.

Seth continued to shout, "He broke my freaking drone, that little cuntt!" But EJ fired back, "I didn't touch your stupid drone, I wasn't even near it!" Denton stepped in and warned Seth to watch his mouth.

Just then, Evan appeared, running over to see what the commotion was about. Denton quickly filled him in,. EJ ran to his dad, tears streaming down his face, and wiped his blood and tears on his dad's shirt as he cried out, "I barely stepped outside when Seth tackled me Dad “

Sarah's tone was full of anger as she demanded, "I want to press charges against Anna. So do your damn job, Carter, and slap some handcuffs on her. Get her out of here now!"

Carter simply replied with a curt "No."

Denton interjected, raising his voice to Sarah, "That's enough!"

Evan chimed in, "Wait a minute, where did you find it, Seth?"

Seth pointed in the direction and replied, "Right over there, close to Mia and Evan's vehicles by their home."

Suddenly, Jason came running outside wearing only a pair of shorts. "What's all this commotion out here?" he asked.

I responded, "Seth's upset because he claims EJ broke his drone."so rather than asking him about it, he accused him, and as you could see bit the living crap out of EJ

Jason's expression turned to anger as he looked at Seth. "That's your drone, Seth?" he asked. Then, turning to Denton, he added, "A drone was watching Brooke and me having s*x through the window a few nights back. I grabbed my shotgun and blasted the hell out of it." He pointed to the broken drone in the field. "Looks similar to that one, but not as fancy," Jason said.

Sarah's tone was seething with anger and fury as she confronted Jason. "Are you seriously telling me that my innocent 12-year-old son witnessed you and Brooke getting it on through the drone camera? What the hell is wrong with you?"

She shook her head in disbelief. "He doesn't even know what s*x is, you i***t. And now you owe me over $2000 for buying him a new drone and replacing his old one, which thankfully only cost $600."that you actually did break.

But Jason refused to take responsibility. "I'm not giving you a damn cent," he spat back at her. "And your son is a little pervert, always making dirty jokes while I'm just trying to do my job with the horses."

I couldn't hold back my disgust any longer. "Your kid needs serious help," I interjected. "Counseling for his pathological tendencies, his anger issues, and his perverted behavior."

But Sarah shot back at me with equal venom. "Why don't you go shove a cake in your mouth hole and leave us alone, you hefty hippo ."

I couldn't let her insult slide. "At least I have natural boobs unlike your fake Dolly Parton wannabes," I retorted.

But Sarah was relentless. "Look at you, you lonesome, ugly piece of wasted life. I may not be alone like you, but at least I have a man who can satisfy me whenever I want. You're just chasing after men who don't even want you. How many batteries do you go through a month?"

I was taken aback by her crude comments. "What the hell are you talking about?" I asked, confused.

"Don't think I don't know you have a thing for Denton," Sarah continued, her voice dripping with disdain. "And you've been trying to sleep with Carter. Who do you think about when you're playing with yourself? How many batteries do you waste thinking about them?"

I was disgusted by her accusations and her son's behavior. "Your son is sick, and now I know where he gets it from," I said, shaking my head in disgust.

Sarah's voice was filled with rage as she shouted, "That's it! I'm pressing charges! She threw my son off of her forcefully and then held him down!"

Carter interjected, "Anna only did it to calm him down. Your son was brutally attacking EJ. You're lucky Evan here has yet to decide whether he wants to press charges."

Denton's face was contorted with anger as he looked at me and yelled, "Anna, you need to leave now!"

I stood there, shocked. Denton was like a different person when he was around Sarah.

He yelled louder, "Go now!" Tears filled my eyes as my heart sank. I couldn't believe Denton was taking his aggression out on me. I had only been trying to protect EJ from further harm by that little psychopath, Seth.

Evan told EJ to follow me and we started walking back to his house. I could feel the blood from EJ's injuries dripping down my arm.

As I walked away, I heard words I never thought I would hear. Denton yelled at Sarah, "That's it! I can't do this anymore. We've been fighting and bickering for nearly 2 1/2 years. Seth has been a major issue in a lot of our problems. But you have no right to ask my cousin for money to replace a damn toy that Seth is too young to have anyway."

To my surprise, Denton continued to yell at Sarah, "Taking it out on Anna is just bull, Sarah. She stopped Seth from causing any more damage to EJ. In my book, she saved both boys. God forbid we had to be rushed to the hospital because Seth. What would you have done then? You're damn lucky Evan's not pressing charges against you for the damage your son has done to my nephew."

Sarah scoffed, "Oh please, my ex-husband Sam is a lawyer. We could've gotten out of this. It would've been swept under the rug. He has connections, you know."

Denton shot back, "Well then go back to him now."

Confused, Sarah asked, "What are you saying, Denton?"

"I'm saying, Sarah, you and Seth need to get your effing s**t out of here and leave. We are done for good this time," Denton replied.

Carter chimed in, "Sarah, you better leave because the moment Mia sees what happened to EJ, it won't be good."

Evan added, "I agree with Carter. Oh, and Sarah, you owe me a new tire. Your kid left the drone out on the field and it got run over by me. My kid did not break that damn drone."

Jason and charm in”Ha! Sarah, you better start counting your cash because you definitely owe Denton some serious dough. This situation is straight up bonkers. Good riddance to that psycho and her creepy spawn!"

Sarah viciously yanks Seth's arms, her voice dripping with fury as she growls, "Get your ass in gear, we're leaving NOW." Seth winces in pain, gasping out, "You're hurting me, Mom, stop!" But she pays no heed to his cries, her anger boiling over as she spits, "I'm sick of you Seth always screwing with my relationships." She storms down the dusty path, dragging Seth behind her like a rag doll. Whirling around, she snarls, "You know what? Let's see if my dad still wants to be your precious veterinarian after the holidays. Screw you, Miller family." With a final middle finger raised at Jason, Evan, and Denton, Sarah storms off, her rage palpable.
