Chapter 29- The Struggle of a prodigy Part 2

2713 Words
Although their duel was in a stalemate where one attacked another simultaneously exchanging blows after blows, things started changing after the rush of the fight started to wear off from Alice. Alice was visibly showing fatigue and since she didn't block any of the attacks. Her defense was getting weak too. Rekka was breathing hard but he was far from out. his upper half of the body was thoroughly burned. Both of them lacked the final blow. Rekka’s every blow was at full power on the other hand Alice's each blow contained slightly lower power but was only getting weaker. Alice even made some point blank explosions but Rekka just took it like a breeze was hitting him, no matter the burn or the damage, his resilience showed just how much he had been through. As time passed, Merlin could easily see that Alice was holding on only by pure will. The adrenalin had surely made her get this far. “Why did you want to fight me?” Rekka suddenly asked Alice. “No weakling could be the 2 heroes Grandson.” Alice just said that. To Merlin and Melinda both Alice and Rekka were the same, both were of similar age.  Although Merlin and Melinda always considered Alice to be similar to their grandchild, because she was the Overlord's daughter, nobody really thought of it that way. She always said that if both of them had a grandchild, he had to be strong like her. As Alice grew up while Merlin and Melinda left the country to check out the cursed sword, Alice wasn't so strong at the time, she became more prideful and cocky over time, barely anyone could fight her at full strength now. 3 years ago things weren’t like this, but she could easily draw out strength on par with Merlin and Melinda right now.  In these 3 years, she must have trained hard to become more powerful but the strength without any competition would always get to someone's head. but that pride had been shattered today. Although Alice could bring out an exploding amount of power, she can't match that with stamina, that's why she would lose today. On the other hand Rekka lived in the most dangerous place in the world from his early childhood. He was constantly in battle all day long and that went for who knows how many straight days or even months, maybe even years too. Rest was the farthest thing he was able to do, so from his early days, he was trained to conserve his stamina or rather build such a stamina which would replenish faster than it was burned.  That was why even with his base strength, he was this powerful. Even if Alice could work with overwhelming magic, strength on par with a behemoth and the extremely rare battle sense she was borne with, she could hardly match a man that had persevered through the hardest or rather the most impossible to live place on this planet. “SO! What about me !” shouted Rekka.. “Your...WEAK!!!” Alice was taking a last stand and making her final attack, her super dense energy was trying to focus At one point. with her right fist, a big explosion formed behind her and she zoomed towards Rekka.  Whoosh!! As she left her former place, it created an after image of Alice. She was moving faster than ever before but Rekka just stood there Defenseless, he had made a decision to take the attack head on. In a fraction of second, Alice's fist hit Rekka square in the face. As the crowd which was silent till now exclaimed as well.  OOOH! After a few moments, Alice retracted her fist from Rekka’s face. it did do damage, but Rekka stood his ground, he didn't even move a hair. It was as if Alice's fist was nothing but a fist hitting a mountain. As blood started spurting out from Rekka’s head, his body that looked burned got covered by fresh blood again. Alice stood there looking at Rekka straight in the face. She couldn't believe what just happened. The attack she put more strength than any till now was blocked just like that. Not only that Rekka’s will to fight had not diminished in the slightest, just how many of Alice’s opponents had graveled at feet in defeat? But this guy stood his ground unlike any of them… Alice got frustrated even more from seeing this. with the last ounce of mana that she had, she released an explosion towards Rekka. still Rekka didn't block. half of his body that took the explosion head on just got scorched.  still  he didn't move. Then he looked at Alice. He said something that was barely audible to hear from where we were, but it seemed Alice heard it and was looking at Rekka with a determined look. Then with a swift motion Rekka pulled his right fist back. He was going to hit straight at Alice but suddenly his muscles seemed to be tensing up and his whole body started getting buffed up. it was as if he aged 1 or 2 years for only a second, with that he threw a punch. but his punch didn't go straight for Alice's head or rather, it stopped just by the left side of Alice's head. …… Did he miss... no….. Thought Merlin but in the next instant, like the calm before the storm. Rekka’s punch as soon as it stopped going forward, it generated such an overwhelming force that the whole field behind him literally blew away. it went on more and more further ahead, passing the debris that his first punch had made in the blink of an eye. It was like a natural disaster that can only be dreamt about stopping. As the smoke cleared, Rekka’s whole body was releasing smoke like it was pure heat. He looked out of breath but still stood tall in front of Alice. Behind Alice it would be wondrous if anyone would be able to tell that there was a big field covered by a 10 meter height 2 meter thick wall. The distant clouds could be seen forming like a storm and on the whole way, ground had been blown apart. Alice stood there in front of Rekka Stock still without even the slightest Movement. Before Rekka had released his punch, Alice’s Danger instincts had shot through the roof. It was telling her that she would definitely die if she took it, but the sheer feeling of being overwhelmed so much had made her unmovable. it was like her feet had stuck to the ground never to move again, but then the punch went just by her head, still the shivers that it sent through her back, she would never forget it in her life. This was the strongest punch that Rekka could throw right now. He had said it before he took his stance, that's why Alice had wanted to be ready to take it but it was so unthinkably powerful that she couldn't even fathom it. After it was all cleared, Rekka turned around “Tsk!” as he clicked his tongue being angered, he kicked the ground beneath him, as the ground in front of him crumbled like paper, the force he left there seemed to be his anger that he could not vent out and walked off towards the mansion; as the blood dripped from his now injured hand from over exertion, the trail of blood he left as he walked by didn't seem to pose any look of pain or reaction from him. As if he was used to being close to death, his body…  However the condition may be, Rekka didn’t look disturbed at all. He didn't even look back at Merlin and Melinda. Both knew Rekka had unbelievable regenerative capacity, soo they didn't move towards him, he could easily fix himself up in a matter of an hour. Right now, they were sure that Rekka was going to the bath to wash off all the dirt and sweat. In the two years he was on the Edge of the world with his grandparents, not all the moments there were easy, in some cases, Rekka clearly got annoyed with their situations, and in those times after the danger had passed, he always seemed to take baths. As if cleaning his body gave the same feeling as resting or clearing out his mind of uncomfortable thoughts. but still, he had an irritated look on his face while going back. Melinda told Mai to go to Rekka and help wash him off and since she could use Ice magic she could put ice on him.  For some reason Rekka liked to put Ice on the injuries and not use healing magic. With that order, Mai and her group of maids went for the mansion. ……… While I, Melinda and Ceciel moved towards Alice, she had just turned around to look behind her. and as soon as she looked, it was as if her whole body shivered a bit and as soon as Melinda got a hold of her, her body lost all its strength and dropped to her lap like a puppet cut from its strings. We looked at Alice. She had Bruises all over and her Right hand was broken. her last strike must have burdened her body and couldn't hold the power. She was bleeding all over her clothes. The clothes that remained were barely staying on her. Even though the last punch that Rekka threw wasn’t directed at her, it was still shot just beside her. The back fire off the punch was just so immense that it still did damage. Still though that confident look that she always had from the first time that I even met her was gone. In that place there was fear but also slight admiration. As Melinda and Ceciel healed Alice, she still didn't lose consciousness. I was sure she was out of stamina but she was just looking at the aftermath of the fight or rather the aftermath of the last strike. “Was he always this strong…?” Asked Alice, in this whole fight she only had one thought in mind and that was she wouldn't admit Rekka’s strength…. but none of us could answer. Me and Melinda never saw him fight with all he had before, even today my gut said if Rekka wanted to, he could force out even more power, even though his last strike seemed unbelievable. To me watching him fight always made me think this way…. that maybe he could show more or had more strength. Since none of us had any answer, it turned silent but then someone spoke. [Hell no, he wasn't strong, not even one in a thousandth of the strength he has now.] Voice had come from the Cursed sword of destruction. For the first time other than Rekka everyone could hear the Cursed swords voice. As a matter of fact Amanori, that was her name, had a cute voice and it was as if she was happy right now. “Then how can.. He is like this now…” Further asked Alice, she didn't care who was giving the answers. She just wanted to know the answer. Since Alice was basically strong from the very birth. She also had the potential to reach further power rather easily. she just couldn't fathom the reason of how someone can harness such power if someone was weak from the start. With all the negative situations some one can have, a place without mana, a place without any help. it was a ruthless place where Rekka came from, we all knew that. [Beats me, but I can tell you this, at least for 5 years, maybe more. everything around that human had tried to kill him every single second, heck! even I was trying to kill him until those two showed up.] “Then does that mean you need everyone to try and kill you to get such strength?” Alice asked a ridiculous question but she was serious. [No, that's not the case. Everyone in this world has that in common. there is always someone to kill you if you're a warrior. Not to mention… there is death for everyone in this world.] “Then why is he so strong!?” Alice shouted looking at the Sword for the first time. [Don't you get it? you have to survive to know the answer..] That was right, the one who could survive any circumstances can only grow from them or die from them. Rekka had taken every one of his days like it was his last one, like there was no tomorrow, even after we joined, but he never showed the fear that should have been there living like that. Alice still couldn't understand, but the truth was Rekka knew what he was living for, so his path was clear. He was just taking a fresh initiative every day. It was like he had made up his mind from the day he could think in this world. but very few people could do that. After you waste half your life thinking, many people start to see what they wanted but the late start makes them sloppy in the run. Even if someone could see their path earlier than the others, they still wander around sometimes. not really putting up much resolution in their dreams, that's how some fail. only a rare few could really see it through the end. “That is true, he did always look like he was sure of what he was doing, like it was normal for things to fit into places.” Said the Spirit Ridge. Since spirits were higher life forms their comments were always highly regarded. But Rekka didn’t gamble his life on nothing… Merlin for a fact knew that Rekka thought thoroughly of everything he did… he may look easy going… but behind every action Rekka made, he knew very well of the consequences that would result in. As Alice got healed up Osman started to instruct the maids to get to clean up. It was a big mess. I was balling my head inside my head thinking of how we were going to  fix all this. Melinda looked rather happy; this fight to the death was inspiring for both Rekka and Alice. Rekka got to see someone nearly as strong as him, that too someone who was near his age and Alice got to see a strength that was so much greater than her that her closed thinking was shattered in millions of pieces. The world had so many strong people in them… for the young Alice this lesson was as important as it could get. IF both of them at such an early age are strong like this, what would they do in the future? can they really surpass humanity and reach inhuman levels? if they could……..? …………. Some who witnessed the fight thought of how strong they were. Some who realized of the bothes potential got chills at thinking how strong they could become and others just witnessed that could only be described as an incredible fight to them. Alice was taken to rest after healing her injuries, her condition was bad, her stamina was gone and she would at least need a week's full rest to cover from the battle, but the Irregular Rekka was seen walking around and eating dinner even cleaning up the mess of the fight later that evening. Everyone in the mansion agreed that day that Rekka was truly the only one that could be called the 2 heroes' grandson. That was how the day ended. From that day everyone in the mansion stopped fearing Amanori because of her unusually cute voice and the passionate speech for their Young master but that's another subject for the future.
