I sigh, sitting in my now empty apartment, looking down at my phone. Should I? Should I call? I decide to. "2467 Park Lane, New York," I say, and hang up. I look out the window waiting. Waiting. After nearly an hour a car pulls up slowly. Is it? Is it her? She gets out, graceful, as always. Beautiful as always. I watch her, opening the door. She smiles softly, her round face shining. "Oh, Maureen! You look so beautiful!" I smile back. "Thanks. Come on in." She does, placing her dainty feet over my threshold. My entire apartment seems dirty now, in comparison. "I've missed you so much! I'm glad to see you," she wraps her arms around me. I pat her back awkwardly. "Yeah...you too." My door opens. "Maureen I'm..." He paused, looking at her. "Who are you?" He asks softly. She blushes. "I'm Christine. Maureen's sister. Who are you?" "I'm..." "Nobody," I grumble, looking away from the . He casts me a flat glance. "I've known Maureen for years, I've never heard of you." "Oh she doesn't talk about me much!" "Well, it's nice to meet you, Miss Christine. I see good looks run in the family." I sigh, grabbing my phone. "Can we just go?" He tears his eyes away from hers. "Right. Right let's go. Goodbye Christine." I narrow my own eyes, filling him out the door into the waiting car. This is a mistake. But I have to get to the bottom of this. "You seem discontent?" He observes. "Did you think I'd be happy?" He sighs exaggeratedly, as if I were being difficult, like a child. "I thought you'd be a little apprehensive, but not..." "What?" I ask. He swallows his words, taking my hands. "I have to drop you home, and then I have to take care of some things." I raise a brow. "What things?" "Business things." He says lowly. "I'm coming." "No you're not." "The only reason you have a business is because I killed all your competitors," I sneer. "I'm coming." He rolls his eyes.
