CHAPTER ELEVEN Teryo, Unan, and Krito were on their way to the village. The villagers were asleep on their charpoys outside their huts under the clear dark sky in the mild, steady breeze. It was a moonless night. A child, waking up and needing to urinate, was the first to see them. He screamed and peed right there in his pants, looking at the enchanters as they rushed toward the village’s border. His parents woke up and followed his gaze, and across the village others started to open their eyes.
