Elena’s POV I sat down, trying to figure out how to handle the whole situation. Showing up late for the contract signing was tempting, but then another idea popped into my head. Why not arrive early at Adrian’s office, get the contract signed, and still make it to my shoot on time? The little voice in my head whispered that it was a good idea. I nodded. It made sense. I quickly stood up, cleared the broken teacup, and straightened the table. “Dad, I’m about to leave,” I called out. “To where?” he asked casually. I caught the tension in his voice. I smiled faintly. I was the last hope for my family, and I would never let them suffer. “Adrian’s office,” I replied. “But the meeting is by ten,” he said. “Why are you leaving so early?” “Oh, I know,” I answered quickly. “I just want to be punctual… to show good traits.” I tried to brush it off. My father was too smart to let it slide. “Don’t tell me you plan to see Adrian, sign the contract in minutes, and rush off to your shoot,” he said, staring straight at me. I froze. My mind raced. “Oh, no…” I whispered, my hand freezing on the door handle. One wrong move, and my family would pay for it. But I had no choice.......
