Adrian's POV
The door to my office opened without a knock.
That had never happened before.
No one walked into my space uninvited. Even knocks were rare .messages were sent through my information manager or emailed. I lifted my head slowly, already irritated, and found Tessy standing there.
My personal assistant. My childhood acquaintance. And my biggest problem.
Tessy had a way of forcing herself into places she didn’t belong especially my family’s good graces. My mother adored her and was determined I marry her someday. That alone was reason enough for me to seek a contract marriage. I would never marry Tessy. Never.
“How dare you enter my office without knocking?” I asked coldly.
She smiled, unfazed, and stepped closer, speaking casually, as though she owned the place. I pushed my chair back and stood.
“Get out,” I said flatly.
She froze, then scoffed. “Fine. But you asked me to deliver messages.”
“Say it and leave.”
She hesitated, clearly annoyed. “There’s a girl at the gate. Claims she has an appointment with you.”
I turned away until she added, “Her name is Elena Morrison.”
My body went still.
So… she came after all.
I turned back slowly, my mind already shifting.
“Where is she?” I asked.
And for the first time that morning, Tessy had my full attention.
