Eve's eyes widened in shock as she saw Charlie crying. She didn't understand why he was crying after what they had just done.
"Charlie, what's wrong?" Eve asked, her voice softening.
Charlie turned off the shower and stepped out, his body glistening with water droplets. He looked at Eve, his eyes red and puffy.
He wanted to apologize for taking it hard on her. He never knew she was a virgin, he felt so bad for the pain he saw in her eyes, he felt like he had r***d her.
But he couldn't find the words he had never been weak before any girl and wouldn't let Eve do it.
Eve's expression softened further. She saw the vulnerability in Charlie's eyes.
"You did hurt me," Eve said gently. "But I think we both knew it would be painful the first time, though I thought you would take it easy with me." She said, trying to be calm.
Charlie's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in a mixture of anger and frustration. "You think I'm sorry for what happened?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. " I''m not sorry, Eve. I'm just getting started. "
Eve took a step back, her heart racing as she saw the intensity in Charlie's eyes.
"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
" I mean that I'm going to show you what it means to be with me. I'm going to break you, Eve. And then I'm going to put you back together again. "
Eve's eyes widened as Charlie's words sent a chill down her spine. She saw the darkness in his eyes.
"And then what?" she asked, her voice trembling.
Charlie's laugh was cold and mirthless.
"And then you'll be mine," he said.
As Charlie's words hung in the air, Eve felt a sense of foreboding.
She stormed out of the room after cleaning up, her heart racing with anger and frustration. She couldn't believe Charlie's words, his cold and calculating demeanor.
As she walked down the hallway, she saw Ryan standing by the stairs, a concerned look on his face.
"Eve, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.
Eve stopped in front of him, her eyes welling up with tears.
"It's Charlie," she said, her voice shaking. "He's...he's not what I thought he was."
Ryan's expression changed from concern to understanding. He held her hands and took her to his room.
"I know," he said. " I've seen the way he looks at you, the way he treats you. He's not capable of love, Eve. " Ryan said as they both sat together on the couch in his prestigious bedroom.
Eve felt a lump form in her throat as she looked at Ryan.
"How did you know?" she asked.
Ryan's eyes locked onto hers.
"Because I've seen it before," he said. "I've seen the way he treats his numerous girlfriends, and I know he'll do the same to you."
Eve felt a surge of emotions as she looked at Ryan. She saw the sincerity in his eyes, the calmness in his words. "Thank you for caring," she said.
Ryan's eyes locked onto hers. " I do care, Eve. I care about you deeply. "
Eve's heart skipped a beat at Ryan's words. "I care about you too," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ryan's face moved closer to hers. "I have wanted to tell you since I saw you I fell for you."
Eve felt so loved by Ryan, she leaned closer to him, as their lips met in a gentle kiss. His lips were so sweet, she thought.
"I don't want to hurt you," Ryan said, pulling back. "But I can't help how I feel."
"I feel the same way," She said, as they were wrapped in each other's arms. Eve knew that she had found someone who truly loved her.
But as they pulled back, Eve's eyes widened in fear. "What if Charlie sees us?"
"I won't let him hurt you," Ryan said, his voice firm. "We'll be careful, together."
Eve nodded, feeling a sense of relief. " Thank you, Ryan. Just being with you makes me feel happy. " She said with pureness in her words.
Ryan smiles, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'll always be here for you, Eve."
Paranoid, Eve glanced around the room.
"I feel like we're being watched," she whispered.
She glanced around, but saw nothing. But then, she saw him. A figure standing in the shadows, his eyes fixed on them.
Eve's heart skipped a beat as she nudged Ryan. "Look," she whispered.
Ryan followed her gaze, his eyes narrowing. "Who is that?" he said. The figure didn't move but just kept staring.
Who was this figure? Could this be Charlie???
Eve's heart raced, her eyes fixed on the figure in the shadows. Ryan followed her gaze, his expression tense.
"Who is that?" he said in fear.
The figure didn't move, didn't blink. Eve felt a chill run down her spine.
Suddenly, the figure stepped forward, revealing a house worker in a crisp uniform.
"Oh, it's just me, ma'am," the worker said, bowing slightly. "I was just... um... dusting the furniture."
Eve and Ryan exchanged a skeptical look. "At this hour?" Ryan asked, his voice firm.
The worker shrugged. " I couldn't sleep, sir. Thought I'd get some work done."
Eve relaxed, feeling a bit silly for overreacting. "It's okay," she said. "We just weren't expecting anyone."
The worker nodded and scurried off, leaving Eve and Ryan alone once more.
"Well, that was awkward," Ryan said, chuckling.
Eve laughed, feeling a bit more at ease. "Yeah, I guess we're just on edge."
They stood there for a moment, the tension between them palpable. Then, Ryan glanced at his watch. "You should get going," he said. "It's late."
Eve nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment. "Yeah, I should."
They parted ways, Eve heading back to her room, lost in thought.
Eve woke up the next morning feeling uneasy. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She quickly took her bath, and took out a short pink gown with a bow to pack her hair.
As she got dressed, she heard a knock on the door. It was Charlie all dressed in a gray suit set for work. He looked so handsome and charming, his blue eyes made him look like an angel.
"Good morning," he said, his expression cold as usual.
Eve felt a shiver run down her spine. "Good morning," she replied, trying to sound calm.
"How are you feeling?" he said calmly, his eyes staring at her with love that couldn't be expressed.
"I'm okay," Eve said, wishing he could always be this nice.
Charlie's expression turned serious. "We need to talk," he said. Eve's heart sank. "What is it, Charlie?" Eve asked, sounding nonchalant.
Charlie walked over to the window, his back to her. "I have a feeling you're hiding something from me," he said, his voice low and even.
Eve's heart skipped a beat. "What are you talking about?" she asked, trying to sound innocent.
Charlie turned around, his eyes piercing. " Don't play dumb, Eve. I know you're not happy with our marriage, but I won't let you ruin it. "
Eve felt a surge of fear. He didn't know about Ryan, but he still suspected something. "I'm just trying to make the best of it," she said, trying to sound defiant, as she applied mascara to suit her makeup.
Charlie's expression turned cold. " You're mine, Eve. You're my wife. "
Eve felt a chill run down her spine. She knew she had to be careful. Charlie was unpredictable, and she didn't want to push him too far.
"I'm just warning you, Eve," Charlie said, his voice low and even. " Don't think about betraying me. I won't tolerate it. "
What would happen if Charlie found out about Ryan? She knew she had to keep her secret safe.
Charlie turned and walked away, leaving Eve feeling uneasy. She watched as he left for work, her mind racing with thoughts of what he might do next.
As she saw him leave, she noticed him ducking into a private room before exiting the building. Her curiosity piqued, Eve wondered what he was doing there.
She waited until he was gone, then snuck into the private room. What she found made her blood run cold.
The room was dark, with a chair and table, documents arranged and then next on the wall were pictures of people each one with a knife through it. And there was Mr Lucas Smith's picture, Eve's father and a knife pinned to it.
Eve's eyes widened in shock as she stumbled backward, her mind reeling. Why did he have a picture of her father??
