CHAPTER TWO: THE UNKILLABLE ALPHA

PREESHA POV There were a thousand words hidden in his chuckle, and his gaze was so intense, as if he was staring directly into my soul, not a single wound remained on his body, and he looked almost amused as he stared at me. I staggered backward. "You..." The man glanced lazily toward his unconscious body lying across the room. Then he smirked faintly. “This is the fourth time I've almost died this year,” he said calmly. "You eventually get used to it." Get used to it? I didn’t understand what that meant, but I pushed the thought aside because I needed answers to this new series of mysteries unfolding right before my eyes. I stared at him in disbelief. "Y-You're alive?" "Unfortunately," His voice carried a cold emptiness that unsettled me, he shoved his hands into his pockets and leaned against the wall casually, as if discussing the weather instead of death. "I'm unkillable. It almost feels like I’m immortal," he continued indifferently. "Or cursed, depends on how you choose to see it." My breathing grew uneven. "What are you...?" His dark eyes slowly settled on me. "A monster, a ruler of a stubborn kingdom, the Eater of Worlds, they call me many things." Silence filled the hallway. For some reason, his gaze felt suffocating, dangerous, and ancient, like he was seeing the world through a different lens, yet beneath all that coldness, I saw exhaustion, the kind that came from surviving too long. The man tilted his head slightly toward my body. "You, on the other hand..." he murmured, "You're just a pathetic little thing destroyed by bullies." His words stung harder than I thought, but I couldn't deny them. Then a bitter smile crossed his lips. "If death were truly that easy," he said quietly, "I would've welcomed it long ago." I swallowed hard. “Why are you telling me all this?” I asked, raising my eyebrows. “Nothing,” he replied flatly, “but my death was solely your fault.” “How?” I asked in confusion. “It doesn’t really matter,” he replied lazily. For the first time since waking up as a ghost, someone could actually see me, speak to me, and understand me. The realization almost broke me. "They ruined me..." I whispered painfully. The man studied me silently, then he spoke again. "You want revenge?" I slowly nodded, hatred darkening my eyes. "Yes." "What if I gave you the power to destroy them?" he smirked. I gasped in amazement. "What?" He stepped closer. "What if you stopped being weak and took on everyone that had disrespected you, everyone that looked down on you in the past?" The air around him suddenly felt heavier, almost inhuman. "You hate your life, don't you?" he asked quietly. "Then take mine instead." I stared at him in confusion while he glanced toward his unconscious body once more. "Enter my body," he said. "Rule my world, command my stubborn pack, experience what power truly feels like." My heartbeat thundered, "And you?" I asked shakily. He saw my hesitation and added, “Everyone fears what I have become, the version of me uninterested in life and weary of the inevitable Fenrir Bond, an enemy destined to end my reign over Mavic City.” A dark look crossed his face. "I'll take yours." The meaning behind those words scared me completely. "You would live as me?" I whispered. His smile deepened, "Yessss… and I'll help you get revenge on everyone who destroyed you." Silence swallowed the hallway; I stared at him in confusion while temptation crashed violently inside my chest, this was impossible, totally insane and dangerous. But then Olivia's mocking face flashed through my mind again, the humiliation, the pain, the years of suffering. “How is it even possible?” I asked in disbelief. “You ask a lot of questions. Questions to which there are no right answers. You have a second shot at life. Will you take it?” he roared in a deep voice. Slowly, I lifted my eyes toward him. "What happens if I agree?" He extended his hand toward me, his voice turning low. "Then the girl named Preesha dies tonight. And you’ll be reborn as someone new, no longer limited by the chains of obscurity." A shiver crawled down my spine, and despite the terror consuming me, I slowly reached for his hand. He stared at my lifeless body in the operating room, then looked intently into my eyes before speaking. “Where are your parents? It's been six hours since the crash.” “They are probably relieved that their unwanted adopted daughter is gone,” I replied coldly. “One less pain in the ass for the Rowen family.” He grabbed my hand and stared at the markings on my invisible palms. “You are not human. I can see it in the color of your eyes. Your wolf is locked, dormant, and yearning to be saved. It's been hours, yet nobody has even cared enough to see if you are still alive. In four months, on the night of the Bloody Full Moon, I’ll be back to reclaim my body and mark you as my Luna.” My wolf? Luna? Bloody Full Moon? Mark me? It all sounded new to me. “How? I’m no wolf, and nobody is marking me on any bloody moon.” He chuckled softly and whispered, “Before you fell from that bridge, I picked up your scent, but I never expected the outcome of the fall.” As he spoke, the machines in the hospital began beeping faster and faster. “Quick. You must decide if we switch bodies. You must strive to command the beasts within me. It’s your last chance at being reborn.” As the words left him, I felt an invisible force dragging me toward the theatre, so I screamed out, “Y-Yes… yes! Take my body!” I felt electricity surge through me as a thousand memories crashed directly into my head at once: Thoughts of civil war, secrets to untold riches, standing tall against the world, a vengeful general leading an army, building pyramids in Rome, Killings, falling at the edge of swords, Eric, the Eater of Worlds. Different lives flashed before my eyes, but none of them belonged to me. It was Alpha Eric's timeline. Then I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in Eric's skin. The constant beeping of the machines made my skin crawl. Then I heard a roar from deep within my chest. The voice of a demon growling inside me. “Who the hell are you?” Kai roared. “She must have bewitched him to con Eric into releasing his body,” another voice roared from within me. It was Buu, an evil spirit, a coyote that also lived within him. “Speak up now before we tear you apart!” Kai roared again. Then it dawned on me, Eric's beasts were fully awakened and they wanted to devour this weak little girl from within me.
