The tension rose to its peak as they both wanted to speak over the other. Different emotions poured out in seconds. It was something they both couldn't decipher or fathom where it was all coming from. They thought they were happy together and, most of all, in love.
He was enraged and she was broken. It was only a few days ago that he professed his undying love for her, and she felt as if it was the first time he had said it to her. It wasn't, but the feelings she had felt were new and she was loving it. Every ounce of it.
What changed? Oh right! Their differences. He wasn't like the average boy and wasn't Mr Right. He was a beautiful mystery. Her? She was just an ordinary girl with certain desires of the heart and mind. He was fulfilling the heart's and not the mind's and for her, they both had to be fulfilled and he was lacking in that area.
Let's put it in a simpler term. They were in a toxic relationship and trust me, it's a confusing one, even for me.

"You know what? I'm done!" Andrew bellowed, walking out of the room he felt was suffocating, but she knew she wasn't done just yet, so she trailed behind.
"That's what you always do! Run away!" She cried out, stating a fact that he was unwilling to accept.
"I only ran away, because you pushed me away!" He bit back, another fact, with an unwillingness to accept on her part.
"That's not true" and with that, he scoffed.
"You hide and when you come back, you expect me to accept you with open arms, and when I don't, you go back to hiding." Also, another fact. His hands raked through his messy hair with every frustration building up as she continued to let out her pain.
"You're never there and when you are, you claim your stupid love for me and then leave" she sobbed.
He couldn't believe his ears, she was mocking his love, but he wasn't going to say a word, so he just stood still.
"You never loved me, did you? You just wanted to satisfy your whims and seeing I was vulnerable to let you in, you took advantage of that!"
His jaw hardened at her every word. He wasn't going to bear it any longer, and he knew if he lashed out, he couldn't bear to see her reaction. He didn't know what to do. His blood was already seething in anger and all he wanted at that moment was to leave, to run away, and to hide.
"You know everything about me and I know little or no much about you! Why is that? I know because you don't care! You never did!" She continued, wiping away every tear that spilled from her eyes. After a moment of silence.
"I hate you!" She let out, causing the clenching of his fist. "So you hear me, Andrew Flynn Carter! I hate you!" She repeated such words with ease, and it broke him, deeply. But, he wasn't going to show it. He never shows it.
"Are you done?" He uttered, his words taking her by surprise. Her quivering lips parted to speak, but words could not be formed; they could not be said.
"I don't care!" He aired out a lie, at each word, he stepped closer to her. At each step, he seized the surrounding air. Her throat tightened "I do not care! Okay? Say whatever you want to say, I don't care. Tell me you hate me, I don't care. Beth! I don't care!" He repeated lies and soon he believed them to be true.
Threatening tears already spilling from her eyes as his words cut her like sharp razors. He was one for few words and his words meant a lot.
To her.
He turned to the front door of her parents' house. The same door he once had knocked on, with roses in his hands and with this feeling called 'love' inside of him. True love. A feeling he had never felt before, so he decided to follow his heart despite the red flags that kept making him a fleeting being. An ingrained nature of his.
"Andrew, if you walk through that door, it's over between us" She threatened, with her, inwardly begging for him to stay, for him to trust her, and for him to share his pains with her. Those were the three things she wanted and for some reason, he couldn't give them to her, not like he didn't want to, but couldn't. He just couldn't.
Her quaking knee couldn't hold up, so it gave up. Feeling shattered as she was left alone. Alone with her thoughts, her pains, her sorrows, and the feeling of emptiness as she stared at the space he had just occupied.
Yes, he left. She dared, and he accepted, and now he was gone. And here she was thinking with him, it was for better, for worse.
A concept she strongly believed in.
