When Adam and Maya came back, Skylar was nowhere to be seen.

Maya knew that something was wrong when Valerie didn’t come out of her room to greet her, so she went to her room and knocked at the door.
“Come in,” Valerie said.
Maya opened the door and went inside the room, Valerie was lying on the bed staring at the ceiling with her hands and legs spread apart.
