AXEL The silence and regret pressed down on me after she walked out, thick and suffocating, like a cage I could never escape. I wanted to call her back, to demand she stay, to admit that the thought of her leaving tomorrow didn't sit eight with me. But I was too proud and clamped my mouth shut, and instead I sat there, suffocating in my own fury. My gaze darted at the bowl she left. I stared at it, clenching my jaw until my teeth hurt. She couldn’t even argue with me and insisted on helping me. In anger, I grabbed the bowl and hurled it against the wall. It shattered into pieces, the sound echoing like thunder through the room.
