The next morning, Harriette woke early.
She desperately hoped Christoph wouldn't wake due to her movements.
He had spent the night in her bed and it made her feel dirty, his skin touched hers every so often and it made her cringe inwardly.
After her mother was resting peacefully, she had got into her pyjamas and started reading The Institute by Stephen King.
Christoph had waltzed into the room, holding a Victoria Secrets bag.
He had to be f*****g joking, she thought, and the sight of it pricked her eyes with tears.
'No remorse at all' she groaned inwardly.
"Do you want to see what's inside?" He questioned.
"Not really" She replied.
He frowned as if to make her feel guilty, but she was never going to feel anything but hatred towards this man.
She just didn't know how to deal with it all.
The pity, the questions, replaying the whole event again.
Nobody was mentally equipped to deal with this right now.. so she had to pretend it hadn't happened until everything was back to normal again.
She desperately hoped it would be soon.
"Here" he said, throwing it on the bed.
"After what you did, you're buying me lingerie?" She scoffed.
The vodka must still be in her system.
He looked at her, mouth agape.
"Look Harry, what I did.. what happened to you-" she cut him off.
"It was wrong Chris, it was r**e and murder"
His eyes turned red from rage and he sped next to her, grabbing her by the throat.
"Don't you DARE" he spat.
"If you didn't want that, you wouldn't have worn that slinky little dress and such provocative underwear"
She shrivelled inside at his words.
Was it my fault? She questioned herself.
Small, salty drops of fluid hitting her arm awoke something inside her.
She was no longer a weak human.
"Get off of me, you sick man" she hissed.
His grip tightened.
With that she wrapped her sleek fingers around his bulky, hairy wrist and pulled him with all her might.
Luckily, she released his hold on her and punched him with her free hand, landing it to his jaw.
Her hand throbbed but the cracking noise was his face.
"You b***h" he mouthed.
"Tell anyone about this and my friends high up will destroy this kingdom and make life even harder for your mother here, you're mine and I'm superior.
You will answer to me or this kingdom will answer to poverty and destruction" He boomed.
This made her flinch, he did know powerful people, and it was her word agaisnt his.
"Try that again and I will kill you in your sleep" he whispered, now inches away from her face.
She shivered and turned back to her book.
How did she manage to make this worse for herself? Her life was just spiralling out of control.
⠀
⠀The flashback had caused her to shed tears unknowingly, and she wiped them away and walked to her en suites bathroom and into the gold plated shower.
Turning it up to a hotter temperature, she made sure the door was locked and stripped off her clothing, then stepped into the scolding hot water, feeling it wash away the crawling on her skin from the man she just couldn't escape.
She washed her hair with her favourite watermelon scented shampoo and applied some conditioner.
Whilst this sat she scrubbed herself head to toe with exotic fruit scrub and lathered on some shower creme.
After she had rinsed her hair and body, she retrieved the towel and gown from the back of the bathroom door.
It's soft, teddy material hugging her sore skin.
She peeked through the gap in the door at a still snoring Christoph.. it was 5.30am, he was set to head out at 7.
She crept out and grabbed a pair of grey plead trousers and her usual 1 of 10 white silk shirts.
Her school had a strict dress code, grey and white with navy blue shoes and cardigans/jumpers.
No heels or cropped/low cut tops allowed.
She was allowed to wear hoodies and jeans as long as they stuck to the colour codes but she liked to look smart.
She headed to her vanity table to pin her wet hair up, drying it would risk waking Chris up and after last night she didn't want any further interaction with him.
She applied some mascara and lip gloss, another school rule was minimal makeup and studs or watches were the only jewellery allowed.
She placed her Tag Heuer around her wrist and fastened it, placing her diamond studs in and sprayed a splash of Chanel No.5 on her neck before packing up her study books and putting them in her bag ready to go.
She heard him stirring in the bed and bolted at superspeed out of the door and down to the kitchen.
Bee was sat eating her cereal so she placed a kiss on her head and said goodbye before picking up her car keys and bolting out of the door.
A Starbucks coffee would suffice, she had no time to feed before he'd have been put of bed and threatening her some more.
⠀
Cheryl and Chase were sat in his sleek grey Aston Martin DB8 as she pulled around the corner, parking her 67' Fastback Mustang in the spot next to them.
Her car was her prized possession, it only cost her around $20,000 but the insurance was the same price for the premium she needed.
Money wasn't a problem for her, but she liked living realistically and would one day like to earn her own money, hence why she was studying to become an engineer.
She groaned as she remembered the advanced physics test she was due to take in 2 weeks.
Her thoughts where intercepted as Cheryl tapped on her window with her long, painted Mauve acrylic nails.
"C'mon Harry, we wanna get a seat near the front"
She was referring to the assembly we had this morning.
We had Will Smith coming in as a guest speaker, as he lead the active charity Donate, Be Great.
He was a well known vampire, in their world anyway.
It helped them stay strong, blood was donated to his charities for human transplants, and the humans would thank him by donating quarterly.
The blood was then sent out to troops and soldiers to keep them at their strongest, and stopped them breaching any laws and treaties.
Their school was a private academy, for Vampires only.
⠀
⠀
"So today, we have 100,000 donors and we are grateful for all of them.
They keep our kind healthy, and able to fight off any threats we have today.
Without them, our kind would be weak, and dependant on hunting the innocent, unconsensual humans that keep society going.
Homeless with low immune systems, putting their life in danger"
"If you ever see a human wearing this badge" and he pointed to the screen which showed a red broach with D encased in a silver outline, "Be sure to treat them extra kindly, and show them the respect they show to us every day"
With that everybody applauded.
And the assembly was over.
Cheryl was a huge Will Smith fan, so she was gushing, and standing to applaud him.
"Such a great man" she cooed, and Harriette rolled her eyes.
After this was second period, maths.
They studied more circuits and Mr. Dempsey announced that they would be covering natural sources of power the next class which excited Harry and she inwardly noted to study for this class.
She had next period free, and decided to go to the library to look up the local area.
She wanted to know every derelict building, warehouse, underground facility like the back of her hand.
She was serious about finding her father now, she had too much riding on it.
She was surprised to see Conrad sitting by himself studying what looked like English Lit.
She sniggered and crept past him, heading to the geography section.
She found a book with Mystic Creek in bold letters across the front, and sat with her headphones in.
She set an alarm for Lunch and lost herself learning all about the history of her little town.
After what only felt like 20 minutes, her alarm blared loudly indicating that the hour had passed.
All eyes were on her and she struggled go retrieve her phone from her pocket to turn it off, sighing with relief when she did and everybody averted their gaze.
Everybody but Conrad.
She stuck her tongue out at him and got up out of her seat, and started walking toward the cafeteria.
She could feel his gaze on her, solidly as she walked away.
Weird, she thought, but ignored the urge she got to confront him about it.
She sat alone, waiting for her friends to get to their usual table.
When she saw them stride in, a smile crept to her face.
She saw Chase and Cheryl's fingers entwined and it made her feel warm inside.
Her bestfriends were so in love.
The way they looked at each other with intensity and need, the way they protected one another and stuck by each other no matter what.
Cheryl's family had come into riches when her dad won big on the local lottery, before this he would gamble his money away, but when he came into so much money he quit and never looked back, invested some into a business idea that blew up instantaneously.
Chases family had always had money, they were closest to Harry's family and owned a lot of land and farms, they also sold second hand vehicles that Chase and his older brother Connor would find and fix up.
Had it coming in from all directions.
Harriette just sat on her father's money, he was a multibillionaire and it was only growing.
He had assets worth billions alone, and Harry and Bee had trust funds worth 15 billion each.. Harriette had just inherited hers after turning 18 but hadn't spent a penny as she already had everything she needed and wanted.
Her car was paid for, her clothes, makeup and accessories paid for by the credit card with prepaid allowance that was practically limitless.
To anybody else, she was the luckiest girl in the world, and she had agreed until months ago when her father went missing.
And then when her older boyfriend took advantage of her and made a big choice for her.
She wanted to wait until she was 21 to turn into cold blood, and it would have been him.
He just took that from her along with her innocence and she would resent him for the rest of her life, her long immortal life.
She picked at her pasta, contrary to belief that Vampires only drank blood, they also ate human food.
The sauces would contain blood but they still enjoyed a textured meal and the taste of other foods.
Their taste buds were differently equipped but mostly everything was still enjoyable.
She looked up at her friends and said hello to them, Chase was the first to comment on her glum mood.
"I can feel that sadness radiating from you Harry, we'll do this, together" he smiled, placing his hand on top of hers.
Cheryl sat next to her, wrapping her toned little arms around her bestfriend and nuzzling into her neck.
"You okay?" She eyed her.
"I'll tell you about it later" replied Harry, and Cheryl nodded in response.
The rest of the school day was glum, she took her English and mixed Science class and had last period free, where she found herself finishing the rest of the book she'd started earlier.
Taking it home to make notes later.
Cheryl was waiting next to her car when she reached the parking lot, and was texting but with her hearing amplified turned her head to meet Harry's before she'd even got withing 5 metres.
"So, what's up with you?" She asked, softly.
"Me and Christoph got into a heated argument last night" she admitted "I stood up to him and it didn't go well, he threatened the kingdom" and she felt herself brimming towards a sob.
She was scared for her family.
"Oh harry" Cheryl took her into a massive hug and they stood like that for a few minutes.
"Shall we grab Bee from school and get some ice cream?"
Harry nodded and plastered a smile on her heart shaped face, her high cheekbones prominent as her eyes danced with excitement.
She loved ice cream.
