CHAPTER 4

281 Words
As Emma strolled through the familiar streets of Willow Creek, her thoughts drifted back to the cherished memories of her childhood, including the adventures she shared with both Ryan Matthews and Sarah Matthews, Ryan’s younger sister and Emma’s closest friend. With a fond smile, Emma remembered the countless afternoons spent exploring the woods with Ryan and Sarah, their laughter echoing through the trees as they embarked on imaginary quests and daring escapades. Sarah’s infectious energy and adventurous spirit had always added a special spark to their childhood adventures, and Emma couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for those simpler times. As she walked, Emma found herself drawn to the Matthews’ family home, nestled at the edge of the forest where so many of their childhood memories had been made. The sight of the familiar white picket fence and the sound of children’s laughter drifting through the air filled Emma with a sense of warmth and longing. Approaching the front door, Emma hesitated for a moment before knocking, unsure if Sarah would be home. But to her delight, the door swung open, revealing Sarah’s beaming face. “Emma! What a surprise!” Sarah exclaimed, enveloping Emma in a tight hug. “Come in, come in! Mom’s making cookies, and I was just about to raid the kitchen.” Laughing, Emma followed Sarah inside, the familiar scent of freshly baked cookies filling the air. As they settled into the cozy kitchen, Emma felt a wave of gratitude wash over her. In the presence of her two childhood friends, she knew that no matter where life took her, she would always have a home in the hearts of those who loved her.
