“What? Is that the reason why you’re staying here?” Jane asked. Still, she was shocked with my confession. She stopped moving for a while. Seconds later, she started swaying her body again so Elise would be able to sleep while being breastfed by her mother.
I shook my head, a bit rapid. “No, it wasn’t my intention. It was my friend, Jace, who told me about this place because it’s good and it is where lots of Cornell University students are living while the semester is ongoing.”
“And who is this Jace? Is he a guy? How come you’ve never mentioned him to us?”
I touched the back of my neck, my mannerism when I find it hard to answer a very simple question.
