Chapter 12

The party was packed. The music was thumping through the speakers, lights flashing in an array of colors, and the air was thick of mixed scents. “Girl! T is here! You should go talk to him. I’ll be back, Cam wants to talk. Go talk to him.” I glance just once and our eyes met. Time stopped for a split second, tension growing in the air. I knew I had to talk to him at one point, so I make my way toward him, and I felt his eyes on me. “Hey T! How you been?” He started to smile, our connection never left. “Pretty overwhelmed to be honest with you, I didn’t expect you to be here though.” Overwhelmed? I wonder why? “Jas wanted me here so.” The music grew louder making my voice quieter than a whisper “You want to go somewhere quieter to talk?” I nod because I knew he wouldn’t be able to here me. He grabs my hand and leads me to this room with just a couch in the corner. “We gotta talk LL. I’m sorry for what I said to you that night. I have to tell you why,” I started to become pissed off, I sense bullshit. “I said that because Blakley came back a few weeks before we kissed for closure and my feelings for her to started to grow. She just had that power over me at the time, then I had s*x with her…again. I wanted you to forget that night because she manipulated me that bad that I thought I was no good and I would never want to hurt you,” but he already did. “I apologize, truly. And I haven’t stopped thinking about you since that night.” “I feel that same way T. I forgive you, thank you for telling me.” Relieve took over his face. “Me and that b***h is over. But I’ve missed this. I thought our connection went away but I know you feel it too Harlem.” I did, I really did. His hand cupped my face, his gaze lingering towards me. My heart started to skip a beat. “You look beautiful tonight Harlem.” My face becomes hot and I hear him chuckle. He can feel it. “Thank you, you don’t look half bad yourself.” He started to lean in closer as I do the same. Our lips met in a kiss. So deep, so passionate. He kissed me like he was hungry, it felt as though it was made up for lost time. He started to take his shirt off, I couldn’t breathe. “What’s finna happen T?” His smile forms on his handsome face, “You love to feel the warmth of my body, so try without a shirt. I’m way warmer.” This isn’t pressure. This is a dream. A dream I’ve thought about for a long time. And he was so soft, his luscious smooth skin, his toned abs. I couldn’t go too far, no matter how much I wanted too. And before you know it, I take off mine. “If you’re not comfortable don’t take off your shirt.” “Nigga, I’m comfortable.” And next thing you know, we’re on the couch, caressing each other. His hand slid to the back of my neck, pulling me closer as the kiss deepened, growing more intense, more urgent. I started to play with his hair as we kiss so strongly. There was no space in between us. Every nerve in my body was on fire and before anything else went a little overboard, “HARLEM! We have to go- ew. Anyway we have to go now!” Dammit Jasmine. We broke apart quickly and grabbed our shirts but didn’t pay attention to show who was who’s. “Jasmine what’s going on?” Me and T both looking clueless, “I’m dating Cam now but Raheem found out from one of his friends that is here and me and him broke it off but he is looking for me and we need to go now!” I put on the first shirt I saw, kissed T goodbye and told him, “I’ll text you when I get home.” He waved and his smiled appeared once more.
