Chapter 7: The First Touch

216 Words
Ella should have stepped back. But she didn’t. Liam’s fingers traced the delicate skin of her wrist, his touch impossibly light—just enough to set her pulse racing. She hated how easily he affected her. “I should go,” she murmured, but her voice lacked conviction. Liam’s smirk deepened. “Then go.” A challenge. A dare. Ella’s breath hitched. He wasn’t stopping her. He wasn’t pressing. He was waiting. Her fingers curled slightly, betraying the way her body responded. She was used to being in control—to setting the rules. But Liam Sinclair? He was rewriting them. His hand slid up, his fingers grazing the sensitive skin of her forearm, sending a shiver through her. “You’re playing with fire,” she whispered. Liam’s gaze darkened, heat flickering behind those steel-gray eyes. “Sweetheart…” His voice was low, intimate. Dangerous. “I am the fire.” Ella’s breath faltered as his fingers traced higher, barely touching, teasing. Every nerve in her body screamed at her to pull away—to stop this before it was too late. But then his hand wrapped around the back of her neck, tilting her chin just enough to make her look up at him. And in that moment, she knew— She was already lost.
