Wanda Maximoff, according to the database, has no criminal records and is someone who I shouldn't be paranoid about. Maybe she was really into Ned, maybe she was a good person, although my feelings said otherwise there was nothing I could do.
Before going home, I stopped by to buy ingredient to make dinner, I stopped by at the newspaper about the disappearance of (Y/n) Stark, all the theories and conspiracies all sounds so funny, I bought the paperback with me.
It started raining, my body was all wet, when I entered the house I made footprints of rain all over. I hurried and took the stuff I need down to the basement. When I opened up the door she was near the fireplace, warming up from the low temperature.
"Oh... no... I'm so sorry I'm late. You must be so cold."
She looked at me. "I'm alright. I was just afraid you might not come back."
"Not come back?"
"Like, if you were out there and get hit by a car or something, nobody would know about me, and I'll be down here."
"You know I can't risk telling anyone."
"I know, so I could just hope that at the end of every day you came back."
"Of course, and I brought lots of things to kill your boredom. Newspaper about you... Books... more books..."
"How about television, or a phone?"
"So you can use it to call and ask for help? Darling, I'm a psychopath, not a moron."
"I had to try." She shrugged. "Think about it. If I'll never get to leave this place you should at least find me something to do... like a guitar, or an Mp3 player, I would kill for a walk man at this point."
I stopped cooking to think. "I have a radio." I put the knife down and headed outside to another room, at the top counter, Ben's old radio was still there, I took it down, back to the room, wiped off the dust. "It's still working."
I pushed the play and Ben's favorite soft jazz played, we sat there, listened to it.
"Who's Ben?" She asked.
Don't.
"You always avoid talking about him. I barely know anything about you."
My eyes met hers, then it went down at the radio, the music set the room to the cool tone, it made the sound of the thunderstorm outside less scary.
"My parents were killed in front of me," I said. "Uncle Ben and Aunt May raised me ever since. They were aware of the part of my brain that went wrong. The anterior insular cortex, the brain that controls the empathy of me wasn't right, that was how the doctors explained it."
"What happened to them?" She asked softly, I could feel her getting closer.
"Well, they almost did an excellent job at keeping my monster inside, but then Ben died, and this.... thirst for killing returned to me."
"What about your Aunt?"
"I moved out so I don't kill her too."
"Is it hard, trying not to kill her?"
"Oh... yes.." I admitted. "It's hard, trying not to kill everyone around me. You have no idea how I fantasize killing you and trust me, you don't want to."
"Why don't you just kill me then?"
"I need you alive, (Y/n)." I looked at her. "Because you kept me alive after all this time too."
Ben's soft jazz ended then the room was deadly quiet, we just stared at the distance until she decided to push the radio's button and played the next song. Then she got up, taking my hand into hers. "Dance with me." She said.
"Dance?"
"Hey. I know devil don't dance, but at least it should help about my boredom." She smiled, I didn't know if this was another tricks, another acts in order to buy my trust, but I bought it anyway.
She put her arms around my neck, looking right into my eyes, her feet started moving, I had a chain reaction I never expected, I danced along with her.
We just moved around the room beside the fireplace and the room didn't look too cold anymore. We were quiet. She was unreadable. I hesitated. This obsession became more dangerous when it's turned to... fondness.
The worst part of it all was she slowly become fearless around me, and I lost all the control.
The devil put his arms above the girl's head and she spins along with the music.
The morning after, I headed to the college, it was early and I was the first to arrive in class. I opened up my laptop and started looking into Helen Cho's profile.
(Y/n) didn't calm my thirst down as I expected her to, she sparks it up, putting more coal into the flames, I needed to kill in order to keep my blades off of her.
Should be an easy kill, she lives alone up in the apartment, I should probably knock her out somewhere on her way back, she usually left at 6, too crowded, I'll need to have her work late--
"What are you looking at?!" A stranger's voice said behind me.
I slapped the screen of my Laptop down real fast, turning back to look at her and stunned, it was Wanda Maximoff in a white, long dress.
I was supposed to not know her.
"Ugh... hello?" I said.
"Hi." She smiled widely, then reached her hand out for me to shake. "I'm Ned's girlfriend, Wanda. Wanda Maximoff."
"Oh. Hi. I'm his best friend. Peter Parker." I faked a smile, both of us faked a smile.
"I was hoping to see you since the day before..." She dragged a seat and sat next to me real close, too close.
"I was in a hurry... but you've met the others right?"
"Yes. But none of them is as interesting as you."
Is she flirting with me?
"Oh? Thanks. I guess."
I thought she was with Ned.
"I mean, you're working with the FBI too! Can you believe that?" She laughed.
"Even I can't believe it." I laughed back.
"I asked him about you, Ned, I mean. He said you are a genius, you always have the best score in the tests, said you're good at everything."
"He did?" Sounds like Ned but why would she ask him about me?
"Yes. And about the Spider." She smirked.
"..." I froze, looking back at her with widened eyes.
"You're trying to catch him with the feds! Right?" She said excitedly.
"Oh. That." I chuckled nervously. "Yes. The Spider. That murderer."
"I know he killed all those innocent girls but isn't it impressive how he got away with murder after all this time?" She was fascinated and somehow looked obsessed.
"Yeah. Quite impressive." My fake smile faded, what does she want from me?
"To be honest. I want to know him." She just replied to my question. "And I hope they never catch him."
"..." I stared confusedly at her. Up close I knew my guess was probably right. Maximoff is not normal, and she wanted something more, I just couldn't quite figure that out.
I hope they never catch me too.
"I have to catch him." I replied with a grin, her green eyes still stared at me with excitement.
Ned opened the door up, to see us sitting real close next to each other. "Oh? So you've met!"
"Neddie!" She got up and hugged him.
"Morning dude!" He yelled at me. "Morning babe!" He yelled at her. "You didn't have to come all this way to see me."
"I wanted to... I missed you so bad..." She whispered at him, It was all an act, why would he lied for him that she loves him.
"Have you had anything for breakfast?" Ned asked us.
She shook her head I haven't but I lied. "I have." I nodded.
"Let's go eat something." He told Maximoff.
"Peter, won't you come with us?" She asked me.
"No, I'm already really full."
"Are you sure?" Her smile faded.
"I am sure." My smile faded also.
"Just the two of us is fine, babe. Come on." Ned dragged her out, she laid her eyes on me one last time, if her face was a word, It would read as Desire.
You finished your fourth books inside this little basement. You out the book back onto the table put on the jacket, sat by the fire and sighed.
"Help me..." You whispered. You have had enough screaming. If you scream loud enough people from up there might hear you, but then there are no people up there but Peter, and now he's gone, all you can do is waiting for him to return, and maybe, just maybe, he might let you go one day.
You listened to all Ben's favorite songs that you can remember all the lyrics. Repeated it so many time that you got sick of every melody. You got up and turned it off.
Not a single thing inside that room is going to make you feel as right as rain ever again, everything was just cold, and blue, and covered with the sound of the rain.
And storm.
Wind.
Raindrops.
Thunder.
Then a knock.
A knock.
You focused onto the sound long enough to felt sure that up there, at the main door, someone is knocking... pounding on the main door.
You put your ears to the wall, trying to listen, it wasn't loud enough, you poured out all the water and listen with the glass.
Someone was really knocking.
"Hello!" You shouted.
"...P...er..." Someone shouted back, but the storm was too loud to hear it clearly.
"I'm down here!!! Please help me!!!!"
"...It's...y...ur...au..t..."
"Help me!!"
"...I..'s..May..."
