Bentley left Dr. Martinez’s office. He walked into the sitting room where Nova was waiting, her eyes lighting up with curiosity and concern. She stood as soon as she saw him, searching his face for any hint of how it had gone.
Bentley offered his hand to her, his expression unreadable. “Let’s go,” he said softly.
Nova hesitated for a moment, unsure of what his tone meant. Did he like it? Was he upset? She took his hand, feeling anxious about the whole thing. “Bentley, how did it—”
He turned around, catching sight of Dr. Martinez who had followed them out. “Thank you, Dr. Martinez,” he said, a genuine note of gratitude in his voice.
Dr. Martinez nodded with a kind smile on her face. “You’re welcome, Bentley. Take care, both of you.”
