Nova pushed open the door to Bentley’s office, a sigh escaping her lips. Her footsteps were heavy with exhaustion and it showed in every weary step she took. Without a word, she dropped the document onto Bentley’s desk with a loud slap, the sound resonating in the otherwise quiet room. She sank into the chair opposite him, rubbing her temples as if trying to ward off a headache.
Bentley looked up from his laptop, his concern immediate. “Baby, are you okay?” he asked, his voice softening as he took in her tired expression.
Nova sighed, letting her hands fall into her lap. “He refused, Bentley. My father rejected the offer.”
Bentley frowned, his brows knitting together in confusion. “Why? It’s a solid offer. I mean, I crafted the best deal."
