Lily drove us to her department store. "I am so sorry I am late." Lily apologized to a man with a very bored and uninterested expression. He just looked at us. "Again Lily?" "Come on Carl. You know how Traffic is." Lily lied. "Oh really?" Carl asked her with a brow up. "I thought it was a faulty car last time. Then this time it's traffic." "I'm so sorry Carl, it's never going to happen again. I promise." Lily said. Then she pulled me to her side. "Before I forget, this is Selena, my best friend Selena. She is going to be helping me tonight at the store. That's cool right?" "I don't care. My shift is over so you can pretty much do whatever you want to." Carl said totally ignoring me and walking away. "Ouch?" I said when Carl let. "Oh just forget him." Lily waved him off.  We took over the store and waited for customers to come in and leave, mean while, he stood talking about anything and everything. "When I am a millionaire, I am go back to town. I want to step on their heads." Lily said. "You are too nice Lily. I wish it was me, I would have- She was interrupted by a call. "Hello?" She answered. While she was on the phone, I just looked around the place. Then she ended the call.  "The store manager needs some hardware delivered right now." Lily said. "Why couldn't it be during Carl's shift? Huh? Why must it always somehow fall on mine?" "Can I leave you alone in the store?" She asked me as a customer came in. "Sure, why not?" I said as I attended to the customer. "Are you sure about it? You're going to be fine?" She asked me. I nodded. "Yeah I will. Just go on ahead." "Thanks so much." Lily said as she went out from the counter and left.  I turned to the customers coming in and helped them with their items.  A short while after Lily had left, I heard the door open and the I felt a sudden type of energy. It was strange and overwhelming. It was deep and intense and there was something about it that was pulling and drawing. I looked up  from my customers to see who it was, but then whoever they were, they had already past. So I didn't get so see them. "How much will be that be sweetie?" The grandma in front of me asked, bringing me back to the real world. "I am so sorry ma'am." I apologized. "That will be fifty six bucks." I pushed the strange feeling away from my mind and turned to my present customer. "That's alright dear." She said. "I have a granddaughter just like you at home. She is so sweet." I smiled at her and then she paid me "There is your change, thanks for coming." I said. Then she smiled at me and left the store. I sat down a chair and took in a deep breath. Then a man walked up to me and stood in front of the counter. There was something about him that just gave off a certain type of vibe. He seemed so cautious and wary of everything. I felt like he was the type of person that if a vase fell down, he was going to be able to catch it before it landed on the floor. "Can I help you?" I asked him. He ignored me and went straight to the point. "I'm looking for a special type of pen and I can't find it." He said grumpily. I frowned. I hadn't expected him to be overly welcome with me, but then it would have been nice for me to return my kind gestures. Apparently not everyone was going to treat you the way you treated them.  I ignored his rude tone and said. "Oh? A special type of pen/ and you didn't find it in the section where pens are stacked?" He gave me a funny look. "If did do you think I will be standing right in front of you asking you any questions?" I was taken aback by that comment, but then kept my cool. "Well if you didn't find it, then that would mean that it isn't available anymore." I said. "Where are the other workers?" He asked me rudely as my presence didn't matter. I knew he was talking about Carl and Lily. "Well if they were here, I wouldn't be standing here talking to you right now would I?" I answered him with the same sarcasm he had used on me. Then his face twisted. Good. give him a taste of his own medicine. "Have you any idea who we are?" He asked. "I come with my boss for the first time and I am met with this?" "I don't know your boss." I said. "And like I told you, if you can't find it then that means it isn't available." Two plus two equals to four, but some people would just like to argue that it equaled to zero. And people like that were people like Mr. Grumpy right in front of me. He seemed like he wanted to go mad at me, but then he stopped himself. "I'm going to assume that you're new here pretty face. So your behavior, I will forgive this second." He said, like he was doing me a favor at being nice to me. At that moment, a woman with her son on her hip came to the counter with her items. Seeing the child me reminded me of my own daughter and then I remembered that I hadn't spoken to her all through the day and I felt my heart weak with sadness and guilt. "Hi." She smiled at me. I smiled back. "Hi." "Can I take some chocolates mummy?" The boy asked referring to the chocolates that were out on the counter. "Henrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy." His mother scolded in embarrassment. I laughed, understanding how she felt. I had Vivian embarrass me a couple of times in public too. "Don't worry ma'am, it's fine. He can have them. They are actually free." I said. And the boy became happy. Grumpy did not look pleased with the fact that I was attending to other customers instead of him. In fact, he looked very upset and unpleased. I picked up my phone and dialed Lily's number. "Selena." Lily answered. "Hey what's up?" I asked. "I sort of have a problem down here." "What's wrong?" She asked me. "Some guy says he wants some special type of pen and then it isn't available at the aisle where pens are kept." I said as I hung the phone on my ear and then checked the prices for the woman and her son. "Oh yea. Is he moody and has a lowcut blonde hair?" She asked me. I turned to him, he looked at me and then I turned back to my work. "Uh yeah, I guess so." "Oh ok, that's Levi." She said. "Well he said he came with his boss this time." I informed. "Oh did he?" Lily said sounding puzzled.  "Yeah. What is there anything wrong with that?" I asked now a bit confused. "No, not at all. Well it's just that most times he comes alone to get them. I've never met his boss before." She said "Oh well." Lily mumbled as she shrugged it aside ."He usually comes to pick up special Swiss made pens from us and our store is the only place it can be found in in the entire city literally." "Oh ok." I said. I really didn't need any of this extra information. "So is it available?" "Oh yeah. s**t I lost track. Yes it is. Go to the aisle where it usually is, you would find a sort of small drawer underneath. Pull it out and you would find it." Lily said. "Alright." I said. "I'm sorry I left you alone. Once I'm done with this I'm going to get down there." She promised me. "No problem, thanks." I said. "I got to go now."  Then I ended the call and put the phone back in my pocket and turned to the woman and her son. "Thanks so much." I apologized. She smiled at me. "Don't mention." "Bye." I waved at them as they left. "Bye." The boy waved at me excitedly. I turned to Mr. Grumpy who was giving me dagger looks already. I ignored him and went out from behind the counter and walked towards the aisle where the pens were stacked and he followed me behind. I saw someone in casuals making a phone call. He was backing me and a few paces away, so I couldn't see him or tell what he looked like. I felt that strange energy and then for a second it was familiar. But then I shrugged it off and went to where the pens were kept. "I'm sorry Sir." I heard Grumpy say behind me. "I think she's a new one. I've never seen her here beeper, so she doesn't know hoe things work here." I rolled my eyes. "It's fine." A strangely deep and very familiar voice said. I ignored them and pulled out the drawer. When I found the pen, I picked them out. I was glad because I had to return back to the counter urgently to help other customers. When I turned to face them, the pens all fell right out of my hand and landed to the floor. Some of the pens broke instantly and their ink spilled all over the floor. "What the hell?" Grumpy yelled. "What is going on today for f**k's sake." Right in my very before was Cian. Cian Stonewell. The father of my child.
