I watched as they carried on with the preparations for the photo shoot. As they styled his hair and put on make up for him even though on God he really didn’t need any make up. He was already beautiful enough.
Then he snapped his fingers and I was confused. I looked around and turned to grumpy Levi. Levi frowned at me and then I turned back to look at Cian.
I saw it was me he was calling.
“Oh.” I said jumping to meet him.
In my haste to meet him, I bumped right into one of the men carrying lights.
“I am so sorry.” I apologized as I helped pick it up and give it back to him.
I walked up to Cian.
“You sent for me?” I said.
“Are you always this clumsy?” He asked me.
I looked at his pretty face and I so badly wanted to have it punched. But then there were two things involved. Either I was going to lose my job which I was pretty sure I would or I would be taken to the police station and have another issue with the police.
So I had to stay out and remain calm. I had to really just put up with all of his bad behavior.
“You sent for me?” I repeated.
He looked at me through those beautiful eyes of his and put on a hard face.
“When you are addressing me, you address me as sir.” He said.
The people around us just looked.
I felt color in my cheeks rise with embarrassment and then I saw there was a smirk on his face. The ducking bastard was enjoying this.
I sighed. “Yes………….sir.”
“Good.” He said coyly.
“I want coffee.” He said.
I looked at him. “What kind would you like?”
Then I realized that I hadn’t added sir. So I quickly added it. “Sir…….. what would you like sir?”
He turned away from me. A sign that the make up artist and hair stylist continue their work.
“I have no idea. You’re my assistant. You should know.” He said.
What the hell?
I just stared at him.
“I want it in ten. You can’t do that and you’re fired.” He said and he turned away once again, completely dismissing me.
I walked away and checked through the iPad and notes for anything on the type of coffee he likes, but there was nothing.
I started to scratch my head in confusion wondering what the f**k I was going to do.
Then I thought of calling Mercedes but I remembered that I didn’t have her number. I looked through the iPad for the office number and then I found it.
So I hurriedly called the number.
The number was dialing very slowly.
“Come on pick up…. Pick up…. Pick up…” I moaned in agony.
“Hello?” I heard Boring Ed’s voice over the phone.
“Ed it’s me Selena. Can you put Mercedes on the phone for me?” I asked hastily.
“Who?” Boring Ed.
“It’s me Selena, the new assistant.” I said quickly. Not exactly ready to lose my new found job.
“Oh oh. Hello? How are you?” He asked.
“I’m great. Can you please put Mercedes on the phone?” I asked.
“Of course I can. Sure thing.” He said slowly. He was being so slow it wanted to kill me. “Hey Mercedes there is someone on the phone for you. Oh yeah. It’s Selena.”
I was losing my mind with every second that he spent in talking.
After the longest time on earth, I heard some ruffles and then a. “Hello?”
“Uhmmm hi Mercedes it’s me.” I said.
“Hey girl. What’s up?” She asked me.
“Great. Great. Look I have a problem. Cian told me to get him coffee but he isn’t going to tell me what type of coffee he wants. And I can’t find anything in Anna’s notes about a coffee. Can you help please?”
“Sure he likes it black.” She said.
“Like black? Just black?” I asked. Was this really all I was getting myself worked up for?
“Yup.” She said with a nod. “But then it isn’t just your regular type of coffee.”
I blinked.
“Say what now?” I asked dazed.
“Yeah the Black ivory coffee is the only type of coffee Cian every takes. And it’s the rarest on the world.” She told me.
“Where the hell am I supposed to get that from and if it’s rare that means it’s going to be framing expensive!” I said astound as I turned to look at Cian.
“Well yeah that’s true. It’s expensive.” She said.
“How the hell am I supposed to pay for that now?” I asked very lost.
“Use your work card.” She told me.
“My what?” I asked totally lost.
“We all have a work card and our work cards can be used to pay for stuff that we needed at work which after every month is usually reviewed by the accountants in the accounting department.” She said. “How come you don’t know about this? Isn’t it in Anna’s notes.”
“It’s my first day of the job and I’m already losing it.” I told her as I raked my head and then I remembered that I was running out of time.”
“Just google places around where you can buy the Ivorian black coffee.” She advised.
Then it sprung to my head. Why didn’t I think of that?
“Thank you thank you so much.” I said as I ended the call.
Then I ran out of the shoot and headed towards the exit building. I started googling locations around on where I could find Ivorian black coffee.
I saw two different locations. One was just three minutes away.
I saw a power bike drive past and then I rushed to it and stopped it quickly.
“Wait, wait wait wait.” I said as I tapped on the scooter.
“Hey!” The driver scowled at me. “I could have hit you you know?”
I couldn’t see his face because he had his helmet set securely over his head.
“I need a ride quickly please.” I begged him.
“To where?” He asked me.
I told him the location. “Please my job and whole life depends on this.”
“And why should I help you!” He asked me.
I wasn’t sure if what to say now. So I said what any confused person in my place would say. “I don’t know. I don’t really have a reason why you should help me, but I have money and I could pay you.”
“Who said I wanted to be paid or that I want your money?” I heard his deep voice say.
I felt the color in my cheeks rose. I was pretty sure that I had now spent over three minutes just standing here.
“Come onnnn.” I whined.
He laughed a heavy and hearty one.
“Alright I’m just kidding with you hop on.” He told me as he handed a helmet to me.
I took it and wore it. Then I looked at the bike. There was no way I was getting on that bike especially with my very short skirt.
He turned to look at me.
“What?” He asked.
“I can’t get on the bike.” I poured in embarrassment.
I felt him look me up and down and it was like he was scrutinizing my whole body. I felt so uncomfortable.
“Well you wanted to go as the sexy business woman didn’t you?” He asked me.
I became totally red again.
Then he said. “You could sit side ways.”
I looked at him and then I walked closer to the bike and then sat by the side of the bike like some 12th century princess who was on a horse.
“Are you good?” He asked me.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
Then he started the engine and he drove off. I had to hold on to him because I was scared of falling off the bike.
“You might need to hold on a little tighter.” He said. “Or you might just fall off.”
I ignored him and held on to his jacket firmly.
After what seemed like a flash of lighting seconds we arrived and he came to a halt in front of a coffee store.
“This is your stop.” He said.
I got down and handed him his helmet.
“Thanks.” I said and then I began to rummage through my bag for some cash to give him.
I handed him a few dollars. “Here’s for your trouble.”
He looked at me up and down even though I still couldn’t clearly see his face.
“Nah no need for that.” He said. “I don’t need it.”
I creased my brows and I wanted to argue with him, but then I considered the fact that I literally didn’t have time by my side.
I rushed into the store and walked to the counter.
“Hi I need some Ivorian black coffee.” I told the pretty asian girl at the counter.
“Hi. I’m so sorry we’re out of stock.” She told me. “But we’ll be being in a new supply by the evening. Want me to put an order up for you?”
Was she kidding? Put an order up for me in the evening? I would be jobless by then.
I just stood there wondering what the hell I was going to do. Then I heard the power bike starting again and then I hurriedly ran out of the store, leaving the lady confused.
“Hey, hey, hey.” She waved at me but I was already gone.”
“Wait!” I screamed at the bike man.
He stopped and turned to look at me.
“What’s going on pretty?” He asked me.
“What I needed isn’t here and if I don’t get it my boss is going to fire me.” I said so quickly I wondered if he had even be able to hear what I had just see clearly.
“What are you looking for?” He asked me.
“Ivorian black coffee.” I said. The only other place close by is about an hour away from here. I need it in under fifteen minutes or I’m fired.”
He handed me the helmet again.
“I know somewhere you can get that from.” He said.
I looked at him in shock. “You do?”
He nodded as I collected the helmet in disbelief.
“Yeah.” He said.
“Are you sure?” I asked him as I was still very uncertain.”
“Of course I do.” He said. “What is it?”
I tried to find a nice way of saying it without being offensive to him. “Uhmmmm errr…. You don’t sort of look it.”
He laughed. “Hop on. You said you have a deadline don’t you?”
I nodded once I remembered. I had completely forgotten.
Then I wore the helmet and tied it securely before I climbed on his bike and he drove off.
He took corner sharp turns and even made a risky turn at a moving truck.
“Come on!” The driver of the truck shouted in anger.
“Sorry.” I apologized. Then I turned snack to him as I gripped his jacket. “I think you’re going to kill us before my boss kills me.”
He laughed and then after a fast race of maybe five minutes he took me to the back door of a building.
