Chapter 2: Blindsided by the Enemies

When we arrived in my dorm, we heard a large commotion outside. Running to my window, the most horrifying scene unfolded in front of us. Large men, dressed in all black and holding very large guns, were taking hostages from the ceremony. Lining them up along the campus grounds, hitting some of the men in the back of the heads, I counted 12 men in total with about 30 hostages.
“Who are they? And what do they want?” Sia asked. Why today? Was all I could think of, but knowing there’s no time for dreading, this was now life or death, I had to think of a way out. I’m not planning on dying today.
Not panicking like the others is what I need to do, I thought to myself. Think, Elaina.. oh. “Okay listen up, this is what we’re going to do. Natalia you’re going to watch the window but stay at an angel so they can’t see you. Make sure no one enters the building, here take this” I say handing her a walkie talkie I grabbed from my bag. “If you see anyone coming toward the doo-.” Suddenly I was cut off by the sound of gun shots.
Looking outside we could see the men killing off those who dare to run, as five large men began to enter the building. Thinking fast I tell everyone to follow me as I head for the basement stairs. There’s a hidden 2022 Camaro down there that belongs to me, along with an exit on the south side right by the open gate. I made sure to scout it while looking out the window and seen no one was watching
Running as fast as we could down the corridor to the first flight of stairs, we came up to the west wing hall and slowed down to make sure the coast was clear. That’s when we heard voices. Peaking around the corner, I heard yelling. Lots of yelling. There was a door open and people inside, but from this angle I couldn’t see anything except shadows moving.
“They must have taken the elevator” Parker said “let’s stay quiet and keep moving. They don’t seem to know we’re here”
“Let’s go” I said, knowing there may not be a way out for whoever those men are yelling at, but also knowing if I tried to do anything, my way out would be lost as well.
Making our way past, a man steps out of the room and notices Parker. “Run” is all he whispers to us as he turns toward the burly man and tries to act like a lost student.
Quickly I grab Sia and Nat by their arms and tell them to run. I wanted to stay back and help Parker. Realizing the man didn’t know I was there, I knew it could be used to our advantage.
I stayed around the corner listening, “hey man, I’ve been looking for room 208 in the east wing, my sister just graduated, do you know whe-.” Burly man cut off Parker mid sentence saying “do you know a girl by the name Elaina Rosenboro?”
“N.. no? Should I?” Parker responded. The burly man just lifted his gun ready to shoot, but before he could Parker was already tackling him. I ran towards where they were fighting and noticed the gun on the ground, grabbing it I lifted and aimed for the man in black.
I couldn’t get a clear shot, they were moving too much, rolling around on the ground. Finally it looked like Parker had gotten the upper hand, he was on top punching the s**t out of the bastards face. Blood splattered his shirt as grunts of pain were made, when suddenly I noticed the man under Parker move, something shining in his hand, but before I could think he had stabbed him in the neck throwing him aside like a sack of potatoes.
Shocked, pissed, hurt, and raging I shut off all thoughts and emotions, turning towards the man in black, I shot him in the head. “My aim has always been too good, and you got to learn the hard way” I grinned to myself as I looked at the man lying in a heap on the ground.
Knowing I don’t have time to dwell on watching my boyfriend be stabbed, I checked to see if, just maybe, he might still be breathing. There was so much blood, checking for a pulse and standing up when there wasn’t one, I make my way as fast as possible to the stairs. Opening them I see Natalia and Sia there waiting, both have tears streaming down their faces.
Hugging them tight they both sob out “we thought you were gone, we heard the gun shots.” Still hugging them both I replied “Never, I will always be here no matter what. Now, let’s go”
Making our way down the stairs to the basement we discuss what our plans are post escape. First things first head to my house to make sure Tanisha made it home. I remember seeing her leave right after I hugged her and waved her off to her car. If I’m right, she should be home and well.
Making our way to the basement door we come to a stop. I don’t trust what’s happening around us right now, so every precaution is important. Looking through the small glass window I check around the basement, searching for anything out of the ordinary.
“I think the coast is clear” I say to the girls “take your shoes off and be quiet, stay close to me”
They nod their heads and we make our way through the door. Up ahead I see my beauty in all black with red rims waiting to take us to our sweet salvation. I motion up ahead and place my finger in front of my lips signaling for them to stay silent.
Just before I can reach the car, another comes speeding through the cars parked down the lane towards us. Coming to a screeching halt, 2 men get out wearing ski masks. Guns ready, they run towards us ready to do god knows what.
“AAHHHHHH”

“NATALIAAAAA” I hear Sia scream, I spin around dreading what I was about to see. There she was, Natalia on the ground dead in a pool of her own blood, as a large man in all black came bursting through the basement doors and shot the two guys behind me.
Not wasting another second I jump in the Camaro and yell for Sia to hurry. Before she can make it, a grenade lands right between her and the man.
“NOOOOO!! GRENADE!” I shout but it’s too late, I cover fast as the grenade explodes and just like that my whole world is gone.
Now alone, and knowing I need to escape fast before I’m next, I start the engine and high tail it out of there leaving everyone dead in the university basement behind me, along with the memories.
