Chapter 15: Secretly planning

SAMUAL’S POV::

Alexis is off with her sister. We had planned to leave before she did so we wouldn’t accidentally ruin the surprise we have planned for tonight..

Last weekend Dimitri and I were talking about stuff when Alexis woke up, so we never got to finish our conversation. However, later that night when she was asleep we finished the conversation…

“What did you mean by ‘speaking of proposing?’” I ask as I have been thinking about this ALL day!

“I just wonder if we could bring some of the mortal traditions you two grew up with.. Including us proposing to her and adding a wedding to the ceremony.. I know it’s not a tradition or even really a practiced ceremony in either kingdom… I just have heard that human girls have always dreamt of their wedding day as well as the proposal.. So I have been thinking maybe we could propose to her and then add a wedding ceremony into the ceremony we already have planned? What do you think?” He asks me excitedly.

I think about it for a second.

I nod my head. “f**k yeah! We can talk to Isabella, my mom, and Alice about this… However, there is one thing I will need for us to do..” I pause.

“What?? What do we need to do?” Dimitri asks eagerly.

“We need to ask her fathers permission.. Although it is not they typical curtesy anymore. I have always planned on asking the father or guardian for my future wife’s hand. It’s a sign of respect and endorsement.. It is one thing I have always planned to do.” I pause to see what he thinks.

He’s quiet for a moment.

“Tomorrow morning when she is at your castle I want you to leave her with your family. We will meet up and go ask her father for permission. Then while we are there we can talk to both Isabella and Alice. When we are finished we can head back to your castle and talk to your mother as well. Thoughts?” He asks as his eyes light up with excitement and love.

“That sounds perfect. I’ll see if my dad will go with her to drink coffee in the greenhouse so when we get back we do not risk Alexis seeing you while we talk to my mom.. We also will need to get a ring to present to her.. What day are you thinking we propose?” I ask eagerly.

“Let’s do it Friday night. I know that doesn’t leave a long engagement however, none of this is even practiced in either kingdom. So unless she says no, which would not make sense as the following day she is set to become our queen, then it should all flow as it should. For a ring we both have jewelers. Maybe we can arrange a meeting Tuesday? I can arrange for her to either be with my father or Atlantis and sneak away.” He explains with such pride and excitement.

“Sounds like the perfect plan to me. She won’t even know what is coming as this dream was most likely pushed away when we came into these worlds. We can get the cottage ready while she’s with Caitlyn. Let’s get some steaks and wine!” I suggest.

“Splendid. It’s a plan!” Dimitri responds with a smirk.

The next day I had my dad take her up for coffee. I didn’t even have to tell him what was going on. He cut me off before I even finished my question.

“I would be delighted. I love Alexis.” He replied and walked away.

Dimitri and I met at Moonshadow Pack. I had called ahead and set up a meeting with Lucian so no one would be shocked to see us. I didn’t want anyone ruining the surprise.

We walked into the office and sit down.

“So what can I help you two with today? Is everything alright? Is Alexis ok!” Lucian asked worried.

“No no no. Alexis is ok. Everything is fine. We just have a question for you.” I responded.

His face relaxed. “Go on?” He asked interested.

“Dimitri and I would like your blessing to ask Alexis to marry us.” I quickly responded.

His face changed. I could not quite read it.

“We understand it is not customary in neither kingdom. However, this is a huge tradition in the human world. They say every little girl dreams of her wedding day.. So we are here to get your blessing to them add a traditional wedding ceremony into the works for Saturday.” Dimitri added very seriously.

It was quiet for a moment.

“Although this is not something we typically do in our kingdom, if it is something you think Alexis would cherish…” he pauses. Then smiles with his hand outstretched, “I give you both my blessing to marry my daughter.”

We both shake his hand excitedly.

“We would also like the chance to speak with both Isabella and Alice if they are available. We wanted to talk to you first and get your blessing before we talked to them about our change to the schedule.” I added.

He nodded. Then there was a soft knock on the door. In walked both Isabella and Alice.

The door shut behind them.

“What is going on?” Isabella asks.

“Is Alexis ok?” Alice asks worried.

“Everything is ok, please take a seat.” I gesture for them to sit down.

“We have a little bit of a change in plans for Saturday..” I start to say.

“What?? Like what? I do not know if we can change anything this short of notice.” Isabella asks worried.

“I apologize for any stress this may cause you. We understand if this ends up not being possible… We have come to ask Lucian his blessing to marry Alexis. He has had the opportunity to bestow his blessing upon us.. We would very much like a traditional human wedding to be thrown into the mix..” Dimitri explains.

Alice begins to cry.

“What is wrong? We did not mean to upset you or add anything extra to your plate as we know it is beyond full..” I start to say.

“No sweetheart. I just assumed when the girls were brought into this different world they would never experience the tradition of a wedding.. The Luna ceremony is similar but still not quiet it. It is more focused on the woman accepting the pack and responsibilities. A wedding is a pledge between a couple.. I think it’s beautiful and I will do anything within my powers to make it happen.. She always claimed to not be a hopeless romantic like Caitlyn and myself, but she is.. Thank you both. This means the world to me.” Alice exclaims with tears rolling down her face paired with a giant smile.

“How about a ring? Have you found a ring? Or are you doing two rings??? How does that even work?” Isabella asks.

Huh. I didn’t even think about that. I look at Dimitri. He looks equally as confused.

“I have a great idea! You should get her two rings. But have it so both rings are not the full gem or stone. Once both rings are on the stone is whole as the ring locks together. Essentially two rings but they bind tother to make one ring..” Isabella suggests.

I like that idea. I look at Dimitri. He nods.

Isabella squeals.

We hug everyone and leave. Time to talk to my mom.

We arrive at the castle and find my mom. She’s in office as I had asked her to meet me there.

We walk in and explain everything to her. She is beyond overjoyed and then runs out of the room?

I look at Dimitri and he looks equally as confused. Soon she comes running in with a tiny man.

“Samual. Dimitri. This is Ned. He is the one in charge of the royal jewelry. He can make anything you want. Please explain to him what you want!” My mom explains with such excitement.

We ended up deciding on two different stones. I chose the simple, standard diamond. Dimitri chose a black diamond. The band has little accents of both twisting around all the way to the top. Where the bands connect. Mine has two diamonds and Dimitri’s has one. The one on his is bigger and will be in the middle of the other two. I am not a big jewelry person, but I feel this turned out beautifully.

Now just need to get through the week without saying anything..

The three women have said to not worry and they will figure everything out down to the last detail. They will be surprising her with a wedding gown that fits her.. I cannot wait to see what they decide on. However, Alexis would look beautiful in anything.
