Chapter 31: Preparations for upcoming heat

DIMITRI’S POV:
I wake up and still have Alexis in my arms. I reach my hand out and cannot find Samual. Odd.
That is when I could hear commotion coming from the kitchen area. I gently lay Alexis, cover her up, and gently move her hair off of her face.
She looks so peaceful while she is asleep. I kiss her forehead stealing an other wiff of her delectable scent. I then turn and head to the kitchen.
Once in the kitchen I notice that 3 of Alexis’ parental figures are here, all except Velkan. I notice Maverick, Gentri, Warin, my father, and Samual’s parents all talking with Samual.
I clear my throat as no one had taken notice that I was in the room.
“Good morning sweetheart. How are you?” Alice asks as she walks towards me and gives me a hug.
“Did you sleep well?” Amara asks hugging me next.
“We didn’t wake you, did we?” Isabella asks hugging me as well.
I shake my head no. I do not remember much of my own mother, but I can say the three of them create the love I remember.
“No not at all. That was just the first time I’ve been able to sleep well during all of this..” I run a hand through my hair as I explain.
Everyone nods in understanding.
“What is everyone doing here? Not that I mind, I am just curious.” I ask.
“We just wanted to check up on everyone. Make sure everything is clean, make sure there is enough food for when she wakes up, just checking on her and both of you.” Lucian explains.
I nod.
“Not to mention Caitlyn is losing her mind being on bedrest. She refuses to stay in bed if we aren’t checking on Alexis. She does not care how many times the doctors check or the updates you both give.” Maverick explains and pauses. “No offense” he looks at us.
We both throw our hands up and laugh. Caitlyn is much more stubborn than our Alexis is. I can picture her just bossing everyone around while laying in her bed looking like a pampered pink princess. Which she deserves.
“But she wants me to physically come visit and see how everything is going and how her sister is doing. These hormones and being on bedrest while all this is happening is driving her absolutely batty.” Maverick explain.
Causing all of us to laugh. Sounds about right.
“Soon you’ll have two girls bossing you around.” Gentri teases.
“Well we still are not sure of the gender, but either way you are right. I’ll have two people bossing me around. But I’ll enjoy every minute of it.” Maverick explains with a smile as he bites into a blueberry muffin.
Maverick has always been one of those stoic men who do not beat around the bush, with absolutely no funny business. Seeing him with Caitlyn has changed him and for the better. He has transformed from a statue to an actual great guy.
As I begin to think about how Alexis and Samual have changed me, I feel a strange sense that something is wrong.
I look over at Samual and his face says exactly what I am feeling.
We both run to Alexis, everyone hot on our tails.
“What’s wrong?” Alice yells.
“What is it?” Lucian asks.
“What is going on???” Gentri yells as he grabs my arm.
I look at Samual.
Then at the same time we touch her forehead.
She is burning up.
What is going on??
I do not get it.
“What is wrong??” I ask Samual via our mind-link.
“I am unsu…” Samual’s thought is interrupted by a slight increase in her scent.
I look at Samual. As we lock eyes we know what is about to happen.
Fuck!
SAMUAL’S POV::
“She is going into heat!” Dimitri and I yell simultaneously.
Everyone freezes.
“Excuse me, what?” Lucian asks.
“Alexis is about to go through her heat!” Dimitri repeats.
“Everyone needs to leave NOW!” Dimitri commands.
“No. Not everyone. We need people to be on guard and protect us and more importantly Alexis! But only the mated men! Anyone unmarked and unmated needs to leave NOW!!” Zeus explains anxiously.
“Freeze! I need as many mated and marked males for protection. Everyone that is not marked and mated needs to leave, now!” I command.
“That is bullshit. We are her guards. We need to stay for her! We can protect her!” Gentri complains and this pisses odd Zeus.
“GET OUT NOW!!! THAT IS AN ORDER FROM YOUR KING!” Zeus yells and commands through me.
Gentri and Warin look pissed but leave.
“You need to make sure there are enough to protect us. Her scent is going to be strong and hard to keep others away.” Zeus warns me.
I walk up to Lucian and Quentin.
“We need to make a plan. Zeus is worried her scent will be stronger and spread farther than normal. We need as many marked and mated men as possible. There are absolutely no exceptions for unmarked and unmarked men.” I explain.
Dimitri walks over and agrees. He puts down a map on the counter. With a pen he draws a circle. Then pushes out and draws an other circle. “This is what I think will be the best possible choice. You will need to rotate men out of post and on post as the days come and go. This is her first heat and with the amount of power she contains, the duration of her heat may be awhile.” Dimitri explains.
“I will be here.” Lucian marks a spot on the first circle, the farthest one away.
“I will be here.” Quentin marks a spot on the opposite side of the big circle.
“I will be here. This way I am in the middle of the smaller circle. I can and will help protect and communicate with you all as much as I can. We have many men who can help. I will find as many as I can and split the numbers in four. This way each day a group of my men will all come out and rotate every 4 days.” Maverick explains.
“There are women Alexis helped train that I am sure will be glad to help too.” Isabella adds.
“That is a good idea!” I respond to Isabella. That will help in the numbers.
“I will also help make sure you guys are stocked up on food and also blood.” Amara adds.
“Thank you. I really appreciate the thoughts and help. I think this is becoming a very well and thought out plan..” Dimitri begins to explain his appreciation when he is interrupted.
“No one will touch her will she remains asleep.” Caitlyn raves over Maverick’s phone that is on speaker. “She is not to be touched unless she is AWAKE and CONSENTING!! Do you hear me you horn dogs?” She yells asking.
“We would never touch her without her consent. Which is an other reason we are trying to prepare for what is to come. We do not want anyone near here if they might try to touch her. Her safety and wellbeing is the only priority we have.” Dimitri explains.
“Good. There is a group ready to go. Crystal is about to create a portal by the castle. Make sure someone is there to go over everything… And guys?” Caitlyn asks.
“Yeah?” We both respond.
“Please keep her safe.” Caitlyn asks in a much softer and worried tone.
“We will.” I say.
“It is our mission and goal in life to keep her safe. We will.” Dimitri vows.
At that moment they hang up and everyone begins to leave. That’s when Alexis lets out a very loud and long banshee scream.
We run to her room. She is levitating, her body is shaking and she is beginning to radiate heat and her scent.
Zeus is going crazy.
That’s when her body drops to the bed and is still.
Dimitri and I both stand on either side of the bed just staring at her. Is she ok? What is going on?!
That’s when her eyes open and she says “help” in a soft voice.
We both rush to her.
Her skin is extremely hot to the touch, and her scent has replaced all air in the room.
“What is wrong?” I ask.
“What can we do to help little dove?” Dimitri asks.
“Make it stop. Make the pain stop. Please!” she begs.
There is only one way to stop the pain. I just hope everyone is in place and ready. I also am anxious about how many days it will last..
