Chapter 34: Heat Wave End

ALEXIS’ POV::

I wake up and stretch. Sam is conked out on one side of the bed and Dimitri on the other. Both have no clothes on, just the blanket covering up the bottom half. I softly chuckle.

The sun must be rising as there is an orange-ish hue coming through our windows. The light shining off of their bodies makes them look completely unreal. Like something out of a movie. Making each ab and pec look fake. I want to touch but I have touched them enough over the last few days..

I wonder what day it is..

I was in and out of it, no pun intended, during the time. Some of it is a blur as I don’t remember all of it.. That heat mixed with the overwhelming desires to mate sends one into a frenzy..

I slowly slip out of bed.

I freeze to make sure no one was disturbed…

I look back and see both of the men I love sound asleep. So beautiful.

I slowly walk to where my phone typically is plugged in.

I glance down at the date…

February 16th!?!?

Nooo! I missed Caitlyn’s birthday???

Without thinking I dial her number.

“Ugh… hello?” I hear a very tired and cranky Caitlyn

That’s when I glance at the time:

5am

“Oh s**t. Cait! I’m so sorry. I didn’t look at the time! I’ll call back later…” I quickly say until she cuts me off.

“Like hell you will!” She squeals all high pitch and excited. I start a pot of coffee. “How are you? Are you doing ok??? Are you even able to walk??” She asks quickly and this causes me to laugh.

I walk to the living room and sit on the couch with a blanket waiting for the coffee to finish.

“I’m ok. Worn out..” I pause distracted by my sore legs and throbbing core. “And definitely sore.” I add with a chuckle.

“Well I bet! I was sore after my week long heat, and that was with just one man. Two men and yours was around 2 weeks??? When did you break the heat?” She asks curiously.

I hear the coffee finish brewing and walk and carefully pour a cup.

“I know. And to add in the 3 weeks of me being in some sort of coma? I was out of it for 5 weeks!” I exclaim and walk to sit back down. “And I missed your birthday. I need to make it up to you!” I say sadly.

“I doubt those boys of yours will let you leave the house for at least a week, and I’m on damn bed rest. So we may just have to do calls now that you are done with your heat. Then later can schedule a time for you to come here.. I miss you.” I can hear her on the verge of crying.

“I will get it figured out! I will see you soon! I miss you too! You have got to be about 2 months now?? How long do they expect the pregnancy to be? That is one thing I am not sure of.” I ask excited but also sad I have missed some of the time she’s been pregnant.

“Yes! 2 months down and 3 months to go.. They told me they think 5 months. They said it’s really hard to know as they have not dealt with what they called “hybrids”. That alone made Maverick almost rip that doctor’s head off.. Mom said she was around 5 months with both of us. Something about werewolf pregnancy makes it speed up? I don’t know. I can hardly wait though, as this bedrest is exhausting on its own. I used to love lying around, watching tv, doing nothing until I have been directed to do so no matter what. Bed rest sucks!!!!” She exclaims very loudly.

“That is nice to know. 5 months does sound a lot better than 9 months! Are they able to determine the gender? Are you showing much yet?” I ask curiously.

“No they cannot tell with any of the tests they have done. They think it has something to do with me being part witch.. But baby is doing so well. Yes I am showing. I feel huge already!” She says upset.

“Oh that is strange, but also I guess makes sense. I doubt you look huge, but you were so tiny before. So it’s probably you might just show sooner. I bet you are adorable!!” I say super excited for her.

She chuckles. “I don’t know about adorable, but yes I am bigger than I thought a typical 2 month pregnant woman would look like!” She says with a hint of disgust.

“You are beautiful as ever, my angel. Especially knowing you are growing our beautiful baby. By giving me such a precious gift, you look even more beautiful and radiant than ever.” I hear Maverick say to Caitlyn. This made me smile. I am so happy she has him.

I hear some sniffing, my guess is Caitlyn was crying. After a minute she returns.

“I will let you get back to relaxing. You deserve it after all of that chaos the last 5 weeks! Please do not sit here worrying about making it up to me. I am happy to hear you are happy and safe! I love you so much! We can FaceTime tomorrow!” She says softly.

I sigh.

“We will see. Hopefully I can come see you soon. Ok?” I ask her.

“We will see. Until then, phone calls, texting, and FaceTime! Ok? I love you so much Lex!” she says excitedly.

I nod a tear slipping away. “I love you too Cait. Take care of yourself and your baby. See you soon.”

I hang up the phone and lay back on the couch with my eyes closed.

I have never had to stay away or stay home. I feel like a prisoner.

“What is troubling you little dove?” I hear Dimitri ask softly.

“Is there anything we can do? Are you ok?” I hear Sam ask.

I just lay there in silence for a minute.

I open my eyes and Sam walks to me and hands me a bowl with strawberry yogurt, chopped up strawberries, with granola on top. Dimitri brings me a fresh cup of coffee.

I take a few bites.

“I am just stressed. I know becoming an adult and starting our own lives and families means we will miss out on some stuff, but I wasn’t expecting it to happen just yet. I missed Caitlyn’s birthday. I have never missed a birthday of hers. She’s on bedrest and she cannot travel. Now I’ve been out of commission for 5 weeks! She mentioned even after my heat I won’t be able to go anywhere? And then that makes me worried that if I do get pregnant that I’ll never be allowed to go anywhere or see my family anymore.” I explain and just start crying.

Both Dimitri and Sam quickly begin to try to console me.

Dimitri puts his hand under my chin and tilts me to look at him. Our eyes lock, “I know I could never truly understand what you are going through. It’s hard. We can understand that much. However, Caitlyn is right. We will want you to stay home and safe.”

Sam then grabs my hand. “The first week after the heat stops we have to be careful. After a week or two is when we will know if you were impregnated or not. It’s just a precaution. After we know either way, we can set up a time to go see your sister and family. Ok?”

I nod with tears in my eyes.

“We can see about you coming the entire day, while Samual and I will join for dinner? How does this sound?” Dimitri asks with hopeful eyes.

I nod again. “I think that sounds really great. Thank you.” I smile and get up. Taking my food and drink to the table.

“Maybe when Caitlyn has the baby I can go stay for a week?” I ask really pushing my luck at this point.

“We shall see when the time gets here. Ok my love?” Dimitri suggests.

I nod in agreement. He is right, that is still 3 months from now.
