Chapter 22: Communication

ALEXIS’ POV:::

I slowly open my eyes and feel groggy and weak. How could our day go from magical and amazing to unfolding into chaos?

I realize I am not in my bed.. Where am I?

I try to sit up to look around but I feel extremely fatigued.

I hear two sets of footsteps. Sam and Dimitri are both by my side. Holding my hands.

“Don’t try to move yet.” Sam suggests gently. I look at him and can see the fear in his eyes.

I nod.

“Now that you’re awake we are waiting for Dr. Harold, Dr Sienna, and Crystal to arrive..” Dimitri explains.

“They need to run tests to make sure you’re ok. Crystal thinks you just wore yourself out with the shield as you have never practiced one that large or under attack. But they just want to make sure you didn’t get any wolfsbane in your system.” Sam goes into deeper detail as I am sitting here lost.

“Ok. So that wasn’t a dream… What happened after I passed out?” I ask.

“Well you made an excellent call on reaching Crystal. I left you here with Samual to find her. I found her rather quickly and she formed a portal to bring us back here. When we arrived Crystal assessed the situation. She was rather impressed you were able to protect us. She quickly removed all the wolfsbane with a spell. Then did an other spell to wake everyone up. After everyone was awake we explained what had happened… That is when they all noticed you were unconscious on the ground on Samual’s lap.” Dimitri explains.

“That’s when we took you to the clinic side of the castle. Where Dr Harold saw you but your father was very insistent they bring Dr Sienna in too.. Which is why we are waiting for all 3 now…” Sam adds on but then a knock on the door disrupts him.

The door opens and in walks Dr Harold, Dr Sienna, Crystal, my parents, Sam’s parents, Dimitri’s dad, and my sister. I noticed Gentri and Warin outside the door. This made me excited. I wonder if they are becoming good friends? I really do hope they will get along. I have clicked with both of them so easily..

“Ok sweetheart. I thought you had promised me to stay out of trouble and to stay safe?” Dr Harold teased.

“Mind if we check you over? We will need to do some blood tests as well as an overall physical..” Dr Sienna asks softly.

I just nod.

After the exam both of the doctors left the room to await the results of the blood tests.

“So I just want to start off by saying I am beyond impressed with you Alexis. Every day you prove to be stronger than I expected and stronger than you were the day before. Being able to hold a shield to protect all three of you, for that long and while she was trying to cause harm to you.. That is impressive!” Crystal begins to praise my abilities.

“No this is not something to be celebrated! An entire gathering of powerful beings were all put to sleep in order for some powerful witch to get Alexis! This is beyond reckless and honestly embarrassing! How could your people let her slip by? How could they be so weak they couldn’t stop her??? Do you understand how badly this could have gone???” Alec ranted beyond pissed off.

“Father..” Dimitri tried to approach him.

Everyone began fighting and arguing.

“ENOUGH!” I yell.

Everyone gets quiet.

“He is right. I know you are aware of the dangers of this. Not only were the guests put in danger, but the three of you were as well..” Quentin adds.

The room was silent.

Crystal breaks the silence. “I do not want to add to the bad news.. But this is not the last time you will see Celestia..” she pauses. “Before she was only interested because she was feeling threatened… She came back to kill Alexis. But now..? Now she sees how strong Alexis is, and she will have a new passion and addiction with Alexis.. Knowing that a young girl can withstand the powers of the high priestess??” She pauses again and looks around the room and then at me. “She is going to feel threatened and intrigued.. Alexis I want to work with your mom and Velkan to set up new protection spells… I do not want to risk any chances of her getting you… Ok?” She asks.

Overwhelmed and worried I just nod my head.

They must have felt how I was feeling because they kicked everyone out promising to alert them on any changes and the results.

The last one out the door and Dimitri shuts it.

They both turn to look at me.

“I’m so sorry.” I say and begin bawling.

They rush to me.

“Sorry? Sorry for what??” Dimitri asks in an extremely worried tone.

“About all of this. Everyone’s life being threatened all because of me… I don’t know how I let my guard down.. I honestly forgot about her… How could I forgot her and let my guard down???” I begin crying harder.

“Lex, this is NOT your fault. We will figure this out together. We will keep you safe. Ok?” Sam tries comforting me.

“Not only will we comfort and keep you safe, I plan to rip this b***h to shreds.” Dimitri responds out of rage.

I put my hand on his cheek. He looks at me and I can feel him relax a little.

There is a knock at the door.

In walk Gentri and Warin.

“We also wanted to let you know that we have decided, even before this, that we wanted you to have your own guards.. Dimitri has explained that he has seen how close you are with both, so figured this may be the best option. Two that you are comfortable with..” Sam explains the presence.

“I couldn’t possibly ask for such a huge favor of either of you..” I begin to explain I cannot out either of them out to do such an annoying task.

“Enough of that! You know I would do anything for you, including protecting you.. Just as I did before you turned 18.. Although I agree you may need more than 1 this time as you are Queen.. You should have a good group of people that surround you..” Gentri explained passionately and softly.

I nod and then look at Warin.

“Well I am aware that you may not have known me for as long as you have Gentri… However, I do feel close to you. We have bonded a lot. I also know you may feel having two guards may seem daunting or unnecessary.. I do not think so. Hell, you should have 20 guards watching over you.. But you are a badass and I think between you, tour mates, and the two of us we will keep you safe.. What do you think?” Warin asks.

I nod. “Although I feel we are putting you out by having you do this.. I do appreciate it. Especially if Crystal is correct about the new obsession I may have just unraveled tonight…” I exclaim.

They nod and leave the room.

There is a knock again. In walk the doctors and crystal.

“Ok so it looks like a few of your numbers were elevated.. But due to stress and exposure to wolfsbane ..” Dr Sienna cut straight to the point.

“We want you to try to take it easy for about a week. Avoiding stress and staying inside for comfort.” Dr Harold explains.

I nod.

Both told me to be careful and take care of myself along with a hug from both.

“I know this is not the ideal time to talk about this.. How do you feel about having children? In the future? Samual and I were discussing this one day. However, we had both realized we never discussed this. Not once..” Dimitri asks.

I sit there and thought for a moment.

“I had honestly never really thought about it before..” I pause for a moment. “But having both of you as my mates, I know any children we have will be safe and taken care of.” I answer. “But maybe we wait until we solve this issue first.

“From everything I have read, it is very rare for the royal family to have more than one baby.. We know how close you are to your sister. Are you ok if we could only have one?” Sam asks.

I nod. “As long as the baby has you two as their dads, I don’t care if we have 1 or 100!” I respond and watch both do their faces light up.

I feel my heart warm and Nala almost purr at the sight and the thought of babies.
