Chapter 12: Late night thoughts

DIMITRI’S POV:
As Alexis is fast asleep in my arms in our bed I cannot help but replay today’s events. Samual and I both woke up and left early so that we could get ahead of everything that has been piling up on us. We both went to our own castles to work on everything that needed done for the day. Then we met up at our new castle. I for one, cannot wait until it is finished. Samual and I have been talking and we want to have a big office where the three of us will work together, ruling over both kingdoms. Also as much as I love this little cottage, I cannot wait to have our own home. A place the three of us will grow together in… We worked together on plans and things that need done before Alexis’ ceremony next weekend. We have had multiple people from both kingdoms helping make this all move along smoothly. We want it to be a surprise for Alexis. Although she doesn’t like surprises this isn’t fully a surprise. Samual and I agreed we didn’t want her to have this extra stress on her shoulders. She is already so worried and stressed about almost everything.
Isabella and Amara have been working together flawlessly to coordinate something really special for Alexis. They have us building just the very basic bottom floor to the castle. We have bathrooms on both sides of the entrance. Then we have built a giant room connected to these bathrooms. This room is more of an arena. In the future we can host a wide array of events from balls, important ceremonies, and according to Isabella the ‘perfect place for a party!’. We had originally had this in our blueprints for the castle, so it ultimately flows well with our previous plans.
However, prior we had this ceremony split into two parts. Starting at one castle and leading to the next. Despite how much easier this could have been it is very important to all three of us to form a unity within the kingdoms. What better way than to form this union on such an important day?
This is why we have chosen to keep all of this a secret from Alexis. We know how important it is to her that we begin our unity as soon as we can. She doesn’t see how much she has changed between the two kingdoms in just one year alone. I cannot even fathom the amount of peace, love, and unity this wondrous woman will inspire throughout her ruling…
At this thought Alexis jumps in her sleep. I freeze instantly. I am always unsure what causes her to jolt in her sleep. It always worries me that she is about to have a vision and convulse. No matter how many times I have witnessed these moments it never makes the next any easier…
I sigh a breath of relief as her body relaxes and she continues she remain in a peaceful sense of sleep..
When we got done building a majority of the structure I was beaming with pride. I have never built anything in my entire existence. I had absolutely no desire to.. But for this woman I would build an entire world for her.. When we got home I was so happy to just see her face. However, her expression was a mix of emotions. A mix between happiness, lust, and anger.. I was confused and thought maybe I had misread the anger part.. That was until she created a portal and vanished through it. She disappeared without a note of where she was going or a word, nothing. The only thing she left was two very confused men..
Samual began panicking. I chose to reassure him that she was safe. No one took her. She CHOSE to leave and we needed to respect her choice. I explained she was angry and wanted to cool down.. Although I was just as worried and upset as he was. We chose to clean up and wait for her. We assumed she went to Caitlyn. Their mother goes back and forth between her mates coven and Caitlyn’s pack. Her father is still apart of the Moonshadow pack so he would be there as well. Gentri is one of the guards that we typically have on the patrol around our cottage. We knew she wasn’t going to be with him which then leads us back to the Moonshadow pack.. So we cleaned and tried to figure out what to make for lunch..
Lunch came and passed and still no Alexis..
Around 4pm I had decided to call Maverick to see if he had seen or heard from Alexis. He said he had been out patrolling as Caitlyn had seen something earlier and was worried. He was going to be heading back to the pack house and would call me if he heard anything.
An hour later the phone rang. It was Maverick. He couldn’t find Caitlyn either. He said his wolf doesn’t feel like his mate is in danger so they must be safe.
This just doesn’t sit right with Samual or myself. We decided to finish up a few things around the cottage and we head off to the Moonshadow pack.
We arrive around 7pm. It is dark. Maverick meets us and our guards. He claims that he has had zero visuals of either woman. This makes my blood boil and my gut tighten. She could be hurt. They could both be hurt. Yet no one has seen them or can find them??? Maverick leads us in and we go to sit on the back patio that Alexis always loved sitting at..
Alexis doesn’t know but one of the surprises Samual and I have planned is a little balcony off of our room. It will have a balcony, plants, a porch swing, and a little table with chairs.. She will love it and it will be hidden so it will not be visible to the outside eye..
That’s when we hear laughter. Around the corner walks Alexis and Caitlyn arm and arm. Giggling and laughing, happy as can be. I feel myself relax as I now know she is ok. However, I somehow feel betrayed? She cannot just disappear without a trace or an explanation of where she intends to go. Maybe check in with us to let us know she’s safe. Something! She disappeared and was gone for hours! I have always prided myself on that I have never been a person to worry or care. Yet this woman has opened something inside of me.. I cannot lose her or Samual. It is hard to explain. I have a deep love for both of them, however I feel extremely protective over Alexis.. She has called me sexist for this. I just do not believe this is the case. I would die protecting either of them, yet I have a constant worry about Alexis.. Maybe she is right and it is sort of sexist.. I mean it could be the maternal aspect of her. I do not know. I don’t think I ever will know. I also know it will never change..
I also did not realize she had been feeling so left out and lonely.. We will need to determine a solution to this problem…
“What are you thinking about?” I hear Samual ask me inside my head.
I tilt my head to look at him as he is behind Alexis. I am lying on my right side. She has her face on me and is curled up on my chest. Samual is directly behind her with his arms wrapped around her.
I look into his eyes he seems concerned.
“I have been replaying today’s events and am trying to devise a solution to the problem.” I reply back to Samual in his mind. This mind-link thing is extremely cool, yet somehow also weirds me out.
