Chapter 10: Overwhelmed

ALEXIS’ POV:
It’s been a week, and we only have one week until our ceremony or whatever it is called. We have been practicing and going over things I have to say and do. What is allowed and not allowed… It is really beginning to stress me out.
During this time both Sam and Dimitri have been busy with things involving ruling and construction of the new castle. I had some say in the beginning but not so much after that.. Not sure why I’m not allowed to be part of the process but they don’t want me there.
I’ve been working on some spells with Crystal when she has time. She’s been busy lately with some person stuff she won’t talk about. I have been thinking of finding Dimitri’s friend Piper to see if she will work with me. She seems pretty knowledgeable. I have been worried about Caitlyn. She has been pretty stressed out. She’s been the Luna for over a year and she hasn’t gotten pregnant yet.. She’s been dying for a bunch of kids.. I plan to have a lunch with her today. I need a break from the chaos here and I really miss my sister…
Just as this thought crosses my mind the door to the cottage opened up. In walked Dimitri and Sam. Both wearing just a pair of shorts and sneakers, sweating, and dirty.
Hot damn! Just when I think I’ve gotten used to how unbelievably attractive they are, BOOM they appear like this.
“Like what you see?” Dimitri teases.
I feel my face flush as I realize they both noticed I was eyeing them.
“How’s it all coming along??” I jumped up eager to know.
“You know we cannot tell you! It’s a surprise! Telling you would ruin the surprise part..” Sam starts to tease me. “Hey wait. You didn’t answer Dimitri’s question.” He says as he tries to walk towards me.
I quickly run to the kitchen and make a portal to Moonshadow’s pack and step through.
Two can play at that game. I don’t like surprises and I could see and sense how much they were wanting me..
“Yeah. Not like they have each other to solve that issue..” Nala teases laughing.
“Shit.. Oh well. Still think I made my point.” I reply.
“I don’t understand why you’re trying to punish them anyways. They are trying to do something sweet. You know Dimitri is a big romantic. This is a big romantic gesture from both of them.. Try to not ruin it with your hate for surprises..” Nala explains to me gently.
I sigh. “You’re right. I just hate being excluded and not knowing what’s going on.. I’ll make it up to them later. Right now I need to find Caitlyn.” I agree and respond.
I leave the library on the hunt for Caitlyn.
I walk to her room.
Empty.
I check her bathroom and closet.
Both empty.
The office.
Empty.
Where the hell is she?
I walk to the dinning hall.
Empty..
I go outside on the deck and see her sitting at a table staring off into the trees at the back of the property.
What is she doing?
I slowly approach her, putting my hand on her shoulder. This causes her to jump. She sees me and sighs a breath of relief.
She stands and gives me a hug.
“You scared the s**t out of me Lex!” She exclaims.
“I’m sorry.. what are you doing out here?” I ask.
“I just noticed movement along the barrier around our lands. Maverick and some guards are checking it out. I was just watching them.” She explains as she sits down.
I nod and sit next to her.
She looks over to me and smiles. “So.. How have you been?? Are you ready for next week?” She asks excitedly.
My smile drops.
“What??? What’s wrong?” She asks as she puts her hand on my arm.
I shake my head no. “I’m just stressed. There is just so much going on and I’m worried..” I pause.
“Worried about what??” She asks gently.
I toss my hands in the air and stand up. I begin pacing.
“I’m worried about a lot. Worried about being a queen. How can I be queen? Queen of anything let alone queen of two kingdoms? How? How can I run two kingdoms? How is it going to work? Worried that Sam and Dimitri will get sick of me. Worried I won’t be enough. Worried about the future. Just worried about everything.” I say defeated and plop down in a chair.
“Alexis. First of all you will figure it out. It will be different and maybe hard at first, but you will figure it out. You’re so strong and smart. Not to mention how caring and loving you are. We all are lucky to have a queen like you. Someone different who is changing things for the better. Someone who is strong yet gentle. Smart yet sweet. You will figure it out, and you have two men who will guide you..” she pauses. “And to even have a doubt that you aren’t enough for them is absolutely ridiculous. You know they both love you so much. That they’d do anything for you. I was skeptical of two mates but seeing the three of you together just makes sense. The future will be figured out as it comes.. Please stop worrying so much.. Everything will work out, everything will fall into place in the time it’s meant for.. Oh..” she pauses.
“What is it??” I ask grabbing her hand.
“In giving you advice I just gave myself advice.” She responds with a smile.
I smile in response. “You will be a great mother when it happens. Just as you said, everything will fall into place in the time it’s meant for.”
She wipes away a tear that was threatening to fall, nods, and smiles.
“Let’s go have lunch!” She says as she stands up and claps excitedly.
She drags me along with her. Not explaining where we are going.
We get to this gate that is covered in vines. She pulls it open and I follow her inside.
It’s a little garden. Plants, flowers, trees filling the area with a tiny pond and a picnic table.
I look around amazed at all of the different plants growing in this area.
“What do you think?” She asks with a proud smile.
“It’s so beautiful Caitlyn!” I exclaim.
“I found this little area and have been working hard over the last 3 months growing and maintaining this area… It’s kind of my little safe space away from everything and everyone. My little secret garden.. I haven’t shared this place with anyone else.” She looks at me with a big smile.
“Thank you for sharing your secret garden with me.. It is beautiful and you have done a great job with it!” I praise her.
She smiles and drags me to the table. I notice a basket. She opens it and starts putting food on the table. Fruits, cheeses, crackers, fries, cookies, muffins, pizza, and a 2 liter of Pepsi
I being to laugh.
“What’s so funny?” She asks with a serious look on her face.
“It just made me think of a clown car. How there was just so much food in there. You just kept pulling more and more things out.” I say laughing.
She begins laughing too.
We settle and begin eating and talking about everything.
After awhile it starts to get dark.
Shit. I didn’t mean to be gone this long!
I help Caitlyn load everything up and carry it back to the pack house.
Upon arrival we are met by 3 very annoyed men..
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to be gone this long!” I say as I approach Sam and Dimitri. I turn around and apologize to Maverick, “I didn’t mean to keep her so long. We just got lost in thought and talking..” I begin to explain.
He cuts me off, “I am just glad to see you’re both ok and happy. I haven’t seen her this happy in weeks. Thank you.” He hugs me and then wraps his arms around her. I smile at this sight.
I turn to the guys who look annoyed.
I make a portal, “let’s go home, shall we?” I ask.
They grab my hands and we walk through it together.
We step out of the portal into the living room of the cottage.
The air is tense.
I turn to look at them.
“Someone’s in trouble.” Sam states.
Someone needs punished.” Dimitri replies as a smirk appears on his face.
