Chapter 6

My reaction to answering the call caught Stephen completely off guard. I'd known ages ago he planned to hold a live press conference to "set the record straight", so I'd let him move forward with it. I'd seen his bad intentions from a mile away. There was no way in hell I'd let him have the chance to smear my name. He recovered fast, though. He put on a bitter, wronged expression. "Angelica," he began, "I know you have some misunderstandings about me." I scoffed. "Misunderstandings? Do you actually think I'd just sit around and let you drag my name through the mud?" "Ms. King, is it true you were extremely socially anxious back in college?" An impatient reporter jumped in with a question. "That's right," I admitted openly. "When we first met, I was really quiet and kept to myself."
