Chapter 5: Don’t look back

Where was I even going? I had no idea, but what I do know, is that I kept running until I couldn't run anymore. I looked up at the tall burnt building that stood in front of me. I couldn't believe, what use to be my childhood home was gone, just like that. I wanted to see the remains that were still there, so I slowly started walking inside making sure not to fall or trip. Taking my time, I looked at what was left of it, not much. I wasn't going to cry again I needed to be strong, so I came and took a look for myself. As I was looking around, I noticed the kitchen was worse then the other rooms. Well duh. My subconscious said. The fridge was burnt and looked like it wasn't even there anymore, you can barely see the stove and the rest of the kitchen as it blended in with the color of the now burnt wall. I made my way upstairs to the best that I could, and I visited my parents room first. I saw the bed was gone and everything else of course was burnt. I went to my now burnt room and started looking for my necklace that my mom had gave me. It was really important to me as it was for good luck. "Here Bambi, this is a necklace that my mother had gave me when I your age and I want you to have it. It's for good luck you know? No bad luck only good." I had a big bright smile on my face as I took it and attempted to put it on. "Here, let me." She said as she then admired how cute it looked on me. I started crying thinking about that memory I had but wiped my tears. Continuing to look under all the burnt things on the floor and soon what I thought was my necklace was just a piece of plastic diamond. As I kept looking around I got frustrated, "No I can't lose it, it has to be somewhere." Tears threatening to fall. After some time I found it, but it was hanging from something, I looked up to see feet and got confused, then I kept looking up to see what it was and my eyes grew big. "Looking for this?" He smiled. I couldn't believe my eyes, how did he even get here? "Mason? Oh my god Mason! I got up and gave him a big hug." I started crying and he was comforting me. He was holding onto the necklace kinda tight. "Please don't destroy it! It's the only thing that I have left from my mom!" He stared at me like I was going crazy or something. I have no idea what happened next cause next thing I knew, he was gone and the necklace was safely put in the palms of my hands. I quickly put on the necklace and looked around looking for him. What is he Batman? My mind said to me. ****** I was currently at a coffee shop drinking coffee and a donut with Mason. I was saving up for an apartment or somewhere to stay but I didn't wanna get ahead of myself with my first ever paycheck. "So, where have you been all this time? I thought you moved." He chuckled a little bit. "I did move, then I moved back, after I heard about the fire and had to immediately come back to see if you were ok. You know your family to us, if you ever need anything or somewhere to go, we'll be more than happy to take you in." He held my hands in comfort. "Thank you I really appreciate it." Silent tears falling out. "My god, you were always emotional." We both chuckled. "So where are you currently staying?" He looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Uhm, no where really. I had someone who let me be their room mate but then he had to travel and I haven't gone to the house since. I uh, don't like too be alone." I looked at him hoping he'd believe my lie. "Oh that's cool. Well I have an apartment if you wanna stay with me." He looked at me with hope in his eyes. My smile grew big as I heard him finish his sentence. " I would love to, it'll be just like old times." "Yea...old times." He said chuckling nervously, scratching the back of his head. ********* "Hey! Hurry up! Your taking forever in the bathroom, I have to peee." Mason was knocking on the door uncontrollably. "Beauty takes time, you can't rush it." I said applying my eyeliner. "But I really have to peeee." I heard him struggling and I opened the door. "Fine." I sighed and moved aside to let him pee. He used the bathroom then washed his hands. "Thanks!" He smiled cheekily. I laughed a little bit. I went back to the bathroom to get ready to go to the club with Mason. ******* "Hey boss. I got that file you needed." My right hand man looked at me giving me the file. "Good, if any of the information is missing, it's your head." The man looked terrified and gulped. "What are you still doing in my presence? Your dismissed." He quickly ran out. I studied the file from front to back. "I'm gonna get you, don't you worry." He laughed at himself. "She shouldn't have messed with me, she messed with the wrong person, now, there's consequences to be paid. I must stick with the plan though but she will be here very soon. That I can guarantee." He smiled evilly and chuckled darkly, I called my men to do some dirty work, this guy who thought could steal from me, how cute. He chuckled darkly once more. ——————————- "You know there's a lot to unpack here, let's take it down a notch and see what we can do from there." I nodded in agreement. "Ok, so you said that you reunited with your old friend after you ran away and you ran to your old home?" She said trying to get the pieces put together. "Yes I did. I don't know why I did but if I had to guess it was because I wanted to see the ashes for myself and make sure it wasn't a dream." "That makes sense, but then you said that you ran into an old friend and then you guys went to get coffee and donut?" "Yes. Mason, he's been my friend since diapers. His mom and my mom use to work together so they always put us together." I looked at Mason who was right beside me. "Thank you again for being able to make it." Said my therapist. "Of course, when you told me it would help her a lot I had to come, she's been through a lot of trauma and it only got worse for her which made me feel terrible." He said hugging me, which I returned the favor. "Ok so after all of that, I must know who was the guy that was after you and what did he want? Why did he even want to come after you? There must be a reason right, as for Mason where did you run off to, and exactly how did she find you?" "Oh that, we have this old hideout that we would always run away too so, she kinda just took a big guess. As for everything else, it's not my story to tell." He looked at my therapist and I started biting my nails, remembering why. I looked at my therapist, who just looked at me for an answer.
