When Cheryl opened her eyes, she was on the floor. “Are you okay?” Adam struggled against the rope binding his wrists on the floor beside her. She nodded. “Are you?” The last thing she remembered was the skeletal man diving into him. “I’d be even better if you untied me.” She barely remembered tying him up in the first place. She untied his wrists and ankles as quickly as she could as the house shook around them. Dishes and glasses crashed to the floor, sending sharp shards spraying around them. Janet crawled around sobbing, her hands and knees bloodied from the splinters of glass littering the tile. The door to the other side was opening. Cheryl knew it and couldn’t let it happen. “We have to stop this,” she said, as Adam rubbed the red marks the rope left on his wrists. Unstead
