Chapter Thirteen
ADAM’S behavior left Cheryl feeling uneasy. As she climbed out of the car, a feeling of dread settled in her chest. “I don’t feel good about this.” She nodded toward the book.
“I’ll be fine.”
She c****d her head at him. “I’m not so sure about that.”
“It’s fine. You have to get to work.”
She did have to go, so reluctantly she got out of the car. As she walked up the stairs to her apartment, her head filled with that familiar disco beat again. It overran her thoughts, making it impossible for her to worry about anything else. “I don’t have time for this right now,” she muttered to herself as the volume of the music increased.
