Lena Thomson knew she was getting drunk, but she could feel the soul of this stranger like it was drawing to her. There was something overly attractive about him that she couldn't wave off, nor explain.
It wasn't the alcohol in her system, because her drunken state wouldn't make her suddenly wish that she could take his heart into the palm of her hands and nurse it back to joy.
Though he wore a mask, she could feel that he wasn't okay.
“Are you fine?” Lena repeated to the stranger.
"It's been a long month for me" was all the Masked man said back in return.
"I am so sorry," Lena said.
She understood him well. For her, it has been 18 long sad years but at the party, the drinks she had had numbed her.
The DJ tuned to a slow song and she pulled the masked man into a hug. They moved silently to the music, their heavy hearts fusing together.
This young man in the mask stood many inches taller than her and when he pulled back to look into her eyes, Lena could hear her heart beating faster even with the loud music.
The air felt frozen and everything stood still. The masked stranger pulled his mask halfway so she could see his lips. She watched his beautifully carved pink lips and smooth jaw without any rubble or growing hairs.
"Thank you white Swan" He muttered to her.
Her breath got caught in her throat when she realized that he was leaning in for a kiss. She waited until their lips met. Lena felt sparks as her body gave a new type of shiver she had never known.
She parted her lips further and received his tongue, a smooth deliciousness of that expensive liquor she had smelt earlier on his breath engulfed her own tongue. He tasted so amazing.
The two clung to each other on that dance floor and before they knew it they had found a room.
In the dark, they found each other, as clothes fell and bodies touched, Lena's innocence gave way to newly found pleasures that she had never imagined.
When they collapsed against each other in relief of a beautiful time together, they sat in comfortable silence holding each other and comforting their unspoken pains until they both fell asleep.
Much later, Lena woke up in the same darkness when her phone vibrated from Grace's call who was worried about her. She slowly and quietly dressed up, afraid to wake him and snuck out of the room.
Lena thought about turning on her flashlight to see his face or leaving him a note but she changed her mind.
She was too embarrassed to wake up a stranger that she lost her virginity to, so she slowly tiptoed out of the room without waking him.
"It's called a one-night stand for a reason" she whispered to herself as she left without giving herself a chance to recognize him.
It was only two months later when she turned up pregnant that she realized how grave her mistake was.
She had no idea of the identity of the man who got her pregnant, and even worse how to find him.
Seven Years Later.
Lena Thompson couldn't believe her ears as she listened to her boyfriend in her apartment. She thought Frank loved her? He had said he was ready to take on anything with her. Why was he saying mean words to her.
Lena looked at the man who had been her boyfriend for over a year. Tears stung her eyes.
"Frank, please...I thought we had no deal breakers?" Lena said to him.
"Well, that was before I knew that you had a son," Frank replied.
"But he is my son, I cannot do away with him"
"And that is why I am breaking up with you instead, so you can get all the happiness you and your son need"
"So after a whole year and a few months your excuse for breaking up with me is because I have a child?"
"Actually no, I don't have a problem with Eric, I have a problem with the fact that you do not know his father"
Lena's mouth fell open. She had introduced Eric, her son, to Frank a few months ago but they didn't hit it off. She knew the meeting was awkward but she always felt that it was because Eric wasn't used to meeting any man through her.
She and Eric lived as roommates with Grace, her best friend in New York and she always kept her relationships away from her son until she was sure it was serious. Lena had just hoped that they were shy and they would eventually get along.
Today Frank had casually asked about Eric's paternity and she didn't know what to say to him, because it was a heavy burden to her.
She was just a naive 18-year old who went to a masked party, got drunk and had a one night-stand with a stranger she doesn't recall.
Lena tried to fight the tears that hurt her eyes, she hated to cry but she loved Frank with the whole of her heart, she had wished for a happy ever after.
"Frank, please you know how much you mean to me..." Lena said.
"Do I? Because I am not sure I can even look at you right now, how can you say you do not know the father of your child?"
"Frank, you think this is easy for me?"
"No I doubt it, because it was easy for you to sleep around"
"What?!" Lena couldn't hold it anymore, the tears fell freely.
"Yes, you are a slut Lena. A really cheap one. You have had too many partners that you couldn't even tell who impregnated you"
Lena started to cry, why would Frank hurt her like this?
"Frank, please stop. It was so many years ago"
"So many years ago ? How can I be so sure that you haven't spent all our time together sleeping around?" Frank snapped back, his voice rose higher than hers.
"I will never do that!"
Lena reached out to touch Frank but he backed away. Lena gasped she didn't expect that to happen.
"Lena, don't touch me with those flirty hands," he said. "I can't do this anymore with you"
