Chapter 3

1084 Words
Oriana took time in taking a warm shower, relaxing her tensed muscles. Due to the work at the bakery, she had developed some nice muscles on her – her biceps quite impressive. After a light dinner of ramen noodles made with cheese and other nice vegetables and meat, and with a glass of apple juice – Oriana took to sitting on her window sill and looking out. The view wasn’t nice or satisfactory but it was still a view. “Hmm?” Oriana blinked when she noticed a drama happening below. A gunshot rang out moments later and then the screaming started. She watched as the people there ran away from the maniac currently firing at the poor woman below. Oriana won’t be surprised if she was being murdered in cold blood because she rejected the man’s advances. Men are that f****d up in the head after all. She didn’t even flinch at the screams and pleas of the woman, just watching and sipping her tea. Before the man could release another bullet, a force bashed into him – knocking him off his feet and causing the gun to drop from his hand. People who she hadn’t noticed still on the standby rushed him, one kicking the gun far away from him. It was like a while drama series going on below. She smirked as the man got the beating of his life, whimpering like a stupid dog and trying to fight back. In the end the police and the paramedics came. Come tomorrow and everything will go back the way it was as if someone haven’t been jumped and almost killed. Heck, people have died I’m this very complex and it was shrugged off mere weeks later. Oriana glanced at her clock and saw that it was almost 12:30pm and heaved a sigh. She headed to her kitchen and rinsed her cup before heading to her door and ensuring that the bolts and locks are set in place. She headed back to her bedroom and picked up her phone and earpiece. With them in her ears blowing her selected playlist of the night, she drifted off into slumber. The next morning at approximately 5am, she was woken up by her alarm. The moment she opened her eyes, Oriana knew that the way would be horrible. The gut feeling churning in her stomach told her as such and the little accidents such as her toothbrush snapping, her favourite mug suddenly gaining a c***k before her very eyes and her toast burning told her as much. Work that day was a disaster and she was tempted to find a cliff and throw herself off. Her boss even coming to yell her ears off made things worse. When she finished from work at 9:45pm, Oriana was dead tired. The bakery, being the most popular one in the city, had been working overtime due to the fact that it was a day before valentines. She got some treats for herself and she was wondering if she should get some take away seeing as she was too tired to cook and too famished to survive on snacks for today. The young woman noticed a movement from the corner of her eye as she made her way towards her favourite Indian cuisine restaurant. She paused and took a look back, but saw no one. She turned around and continued her journey, a warily look on her face. By 10:23pm, Oriana was making her way back home and Lord did she felt uncomfortable. She felt as if someone was watching her and the hairs on the back of her neck stood. She was holding the bags in her left hand, leaving her right hand to find with the pepper spray in her coat pocket. It all happened too fast for Oriana to comprehend. As she made move to pass through the dark alleyway, she was grabbed by hands that drew her into it – a handkerchief clamped on her mouth and nose. Immediately she held her breath, trying hard not to inhale whatever was on it. Her bags dropped to the floor as she used her hands to grab the hand on her face. She headbutted the person behind her, drawing a shout to them as she heard a c***k (no doubt breaking their nose) before stepping on their foot hard. Oriana is released from her captor’s hold and she immediately reached for her spray – still holding her breath. She gave them a large dose of the spray, making sure it gets into their eyes, before she blessed them with a knee to the crotch that had them doubling over in pain and them giving them a well timed upper cut – wincing a little at the pain shooting up her hand. Years on the street had taught Oriana enough that she should high tail it out of their now that her enemy was weakened – but she was cornered. With an irritated click of her tongue, she made a mad dash for the entrance of the alleyway. She jumped of the garbage box and used it to propel herself over one of them – throwing a somersault that had them exclaiming in shock. She landed perfectly on her feet and immediately continued running. Oriana unfortunately impacted with an obstacle in form of a brute of a man. With a snarl, her heart beating in adrenaline and fear, she aimed a kick at his d**k – but she got backhanded, causing her to stop and fall back with a loud cry. Before Oriana could do the last thing on her list (which is to cry for help, but then again she didn’t know if it would work), her entire face is covered with a cloth and she began to struggle – kicking her feet, jerking her body and clawing at the funny smelling cloth. Within seconds, the drug took effect and Oriana began to lose consciousness. “-can’t believe you three got bested by a puny woman of all things.” A deep voice grunted out. “We didn’t expect her actions, boss.” A voice wheezed out in pain. “Sam warned us all about her. You shouldn’t have gotten cocky.” The deep voice said. “Pick her up and let’s get out of this dumpster.” “Yes, boss.” Before her mind faded into black, Oriana regretted waking up that morning. ‘I should have f*****g stayed at home.’ She thought as she lost consciousness.
