Change PartnersIf Ed thought he had got out of a tight spot over his phoney Arab deal he had reckoned without Veronica. When he tried to explain it to her later, he found himself getting more tied up in the story as he went along.
“You did what?” His daughter regarded him in amazed disbelief. “You mean to say you turned down a dream of a deal with the Sultan – all on account of a screwy explanation from Willie? I'm surprised at you, Pa. I thought you had more sense. That's no excuse for passing up a fortune.” She softened. “You know, I do believe that boy is really gone on me – fancy trying to spirit Prince Abdulla away just as I was getting to know him too - he's got a nerve.” She sighed wistfully and patted her hair. “It's a real shame we couldn't have made a go of it
