A Big SurpriseBursting into William's lodgings ten minutes later, Sally nearly tripped over a huddled body, and letting out a scream threw herself down with a wail. “Willie, love, what have they done to you?”
With the help of Neil they untied the ropes as quickly as they could, and she cradled his head in her arms. “Oh, darling, forgive me – it was all my fault!”
Opening a bruised eye with an effort, he asked weakly, “Am I dreaming, or did you call me, darling?”
