Chapter Six

1020 Words
At that moment, Janet, who was enjoying a spa date, reached out to Mia after ending her mother's call. They once teamed up to hurt Celine, leading to her losing her virginity and getting thrown out of the house. Now, they're good friends. But recently, Mia has gone silent, and her art gallery has been locked. Finally, Mia's voice greeted her over the phone. "Hello, Janet." "Mia, what have you been up to lately? Why is your gallery closed?" "Oh! I've been in and out of the state. Is anything the matter?" "Mia, I have some unfortunate news to share with you. Celine has come back to the country." In a luxurious condo that Lucas got for her, Mia, who was enjoying the service of one of her hired maids in the pool area, was so frightened that she dropped her phone. She quickly picked it up, dismissed the maid, then asked nervously, "When did she come back? Why did she come back?" "Why are you so jittery? Don't tell me you're still afraid of her, Mia!" "No, I'm just asking." "My Mom mentioned it to me. I'm not sure why she's back, but I suspect she's returned to stake a claim in the family's assets and cause trouble." A glint of anger sparked in Mia's eyes at the news. "Why couldn't Celine have just died abroad? Then I wouldn't have to deal with this pain." Everything Mia enjoyed now was all thanks to Celine, a fact she intended to keep hidden from Lucas for as long as she was alive. "I can't let him know it was Celine back then," she mumbled, fear written all over her face. "Janet, she might come for me too. Can you tell me everything you know about her in the future? So that I'll be better prepared," she said to Janet. "Okay, we will deal with her together in the future," Janet replied, not knowing what Mia had been up to. After ending the call, Mia nervously chewed her lip. She had grown accustomed to being treated like a wealthy young woman, indulged in the finest things. Lucas, in his efforts to make amends, had given her everything she desired. But Mia's desires had grown beyond mere material possessions; she longed to become Lucas' wife. Being married to someone like Lucas was the ultimate happiness. Mia was determined not to let anyone, especially Celine, ruin her plans. She couldn't risk Janet finding out either, fearing her jealousy might lead to exposure. So, Mia resolved to gather all possible information about Celine and find a way to make her disappear from their lives for good. At 4 pm, Celine arrived punctually at the kindergarten to get her son. The little boy bid a cheerful farewell to his teacher and dashed excitedly into her waiting arms. "Mommy," the little boy called out. "How was school today?" she asked, bending down to his level with a smile. "It was great Mommy! I like my school very much." "That's awesome my love. How about we have pasta in the evening?" Celine suggested to him as they walked towards a cab. "Okay! Mommy, you know I love pasta" he answered as he beamed, happy that he was about to eat his mother's food. Celine considered herself incredibly fortunate to have a child with such an angelic demeanor. From the time he was a baby, he never caused her any worry. He didn't fuss over food, he had a pleasant personality and beamed with Joy at all times. After finishing their shopping at the grocery store, they returned home to prepare dinner. While Celine busied herself cooking a meal for two, her son entertained himself by playing Scrabble alone. "Mommy, did work go well today?" The little boy suddenly asked his mother, showing concern. "Yes, it went well," Celine replied, her lips curving into a smile. She never complained about life or work in front of her son. "Nathan, would you like to visit your grandpa in three days?" Celine asked him, seeing it as the perfect timing. "Yes, Mommy, I want that," The young boy blinked eagerly, wishing he was there at that moment. Upon hearing this, Celine felt conflicted. She understood that Angelina and her daughter wouldn't accept Nathan. Additionally, she didn't want to disclose to Janet that her son was conceived from her loss of virginity seven years ago. Instead, she intended to inform her father that she had conceived the child with a man she loved. At night, Celine slept while holding her son close in her arms. The gentle moonlight streamed through the window, casting a serene glow as they drifted off to sleep together. The following morning, right after saying goodbye to her son, Celine grabbed a taxi to get to work. FireArt was situated in a tall building downtown, bustling with activity, especially in the mornings. This worried her as she was running late. Soon, she stepped out of her cab, munching on bread she had bought earlier, hurrying towards the elevator. As the elevator doors slid open, a handsome and mature figure caught her eye, causing her to freeze for a moment. She quickly gulped down the last of her bread, stuffed the remainder into her handbag, and entered with as much confidence as she could muster. "Morning," Lucas greeted in a deep, captivating voice. "Good morning!" Celine responded, only to be startled by her own unexpected hiccup moments later. Lucas looked deeply at her as they stood in the elevator, observing her awkwardly through its reflection. When the doors opened on the fifth floor, Celine hurriedly exited, feeling deeply embarrassed. A small smile started to form in Lucas' eyes and on his handsome face as he watched her leave. "She's strangely fascinating," he thought to himself. Celine went straight to her office and promptly drank some water to try to get rid of her hiccups, but the embarrassing incident couldn't be erased. She wouldn't have felt so ashamed if it had been someone else, but of course, it had to be Lucas. "I bet he's laughing at me right now."
