"Mom, whose kid is this?" Janet asked abruptly, appearing on the staircase and catching Celine off guard.
"Mind your language, Janet! This is your nephew, born while your sister was living abroad," James interrupted her, while he was playing with the child.
Janet's eyes widened in surprise. "What?" She descended the stairs, approaching Celine. "Why didn't you tell us about your child? Is something wrong? Can't we see him?"
"Why would you say that, Janet? Nathan is part of our family now, so I don't want to hear those words from you," James said sternly, eyeing her disapprovingly.
Angelina noticed her husband's reaction and felt a growing resentment towards Celine, dismayed by how his attitude towards her had changed because of Nathan.
