CHAPTER FIVE

1000 Words
Victoria couldn't believe she would be next door to Liam, she was beginning to feel all this was a plan between Mr fletcher and liam. "Are you okay? You seem lost tori." the man sitting in front of her spoke, she had totally forgotten about him, she was supposed to be on a date, yet liam found a way of occupying her thoughts. "Um...Charles, can you stick to victoria or vicki, i don't feel comfortable with you calling me 'Tori'." "Whatever you want, now can i have your attention?" "Of course, I'm sorry." she adjusted in her seat, she wasn't entirely lost, he had been ranting about his father's winery and she had heard nothing about his future plans. She only took this date to spite liam, not that she was interested in a relationship anyway, now she was stuck with this daddy's boy. She thought of a way to tell him off without coming off too rude; "That is great, so what about your career? Still surfing california waves? or you plan on taking over daddy's business?" she asked Charles shrugged his shoulder, "Pretty much, yeah. There seems to be a lot of money in the business, besides i don't need to lift a finger, my dad has tons of workers." Victoria squeezed her fist under the table, "How old are you charles?" She forced a smile. "Twenty seven." Victoria almost choked on her wine, "what about you?" he asked "I..I'll be thirty in a week." she tucked her hair behind her ear. "You really don't look it, you're still so beautiful." "My age doesn't bother you?" "No, should it?" "I mean, most men flee at the mention of my age." "I don't care." he said, stuffing a fork full of pasta into his mouth and chewing so disgustingly, victoria wanted to melt away from the restaurant. Finally, the dinner date was over and charles walton dropped her off, she was just about to walk towards the cabin, then Mrs fletcher walked out. "I really do not like that young man, he's as arrogant as he's father." "Mrs fletcher, you should be in bed." "You should be going out with someone like Liam." "Mrs fletcher...." "I don't know what happened between you two, but fix it, you both look good together." "But we were just childhood friends, we never went out together." Mrs fletcher chuckled softly, "Charles Walton is an irresponsible excuse of a son, he's going to break that sweet heart of yours and i don't want my little vicki getting hurt." "I'm a grown woman mrs fletcher, i will take care of myself, i promise." victoria chuckled, she went to hug the old lady, "Go to bed mrs fletcher." "Good night my little vicki." "Good night mrs fletcher." Victoria walked towards the cabin at the back of the house, she sat on the little stairway, took off her shoes and gazed into the sky, she missed her little sister. Olivia loved to name the stars, she had a way of reading them and telling tales that made her and her mother laugh. When their father died in the army, victoria and olivia took care of their mother together and made sure she didn't miss the absence of their father so much. "Good night sweet candy, good night mom." she said as she picked up her shoes and walked into the house. Liam was already at the empty store fixing his workshop when victoria arrived, he had bought two cups of latte on his way there. " Good morning Tori." "Good morning Liam." He handed one over to her, "Thank you." she said as she took it. "So i know your favorite color is blue, but i wanted to know what shade you would prefer before i begin." Victoria raised her eyelids to look at him from over her latte cup; "um...liam, you don't have...." "Relax Tori, it ain't for free. I know how much you dread being indebted to anyone." Victoria sipped her latte, then said; "Can i have the bill then?" Liam took out a pen and mini scrapbook from his back pocket and wrote something on it, he tore out the page and gave it to her. She looked at it and her eyebrows cringed; "Too much?" liam smirked, "Yeah, i'm that good at what i do. But i can cut down by two and take the rest as a dinner compensation." "No." came victoria's sharp response. "Then i'll double the price, or you can find yourself another painter. Let me inform you though, the other painters get their supplies from me and i won't hesitate to double their prices as well, then they will have to charge way more." One could literally see the fumes coming out of victoria's ears, liam had definitely thought this through and she knew him so well to be on her ass until she agreed to go on a dinner date with him. Date? No, it wasn't a date, it was just dinner right? "Fine, a light shade of blue and a touch of white." "Excellent choice." liam winked at her, "Let me have your cellphone." "What?" "Your phone Tori." she frowned at him, "Please." he added, then she took it from her purse and gave it to him. He took it and punched some numbers, then dialed; "Now i have your number, i'll text you the details later." Victoria rolled her eyes, it's not that he was arrogant but he was definitely bossy and possessive with not just her but also his siblings too. It was cool when they were little, he fought and protected her from bullies...now? She found it really annoying because she was an adult and she'd been wishing for more ever since that night he kissed her. Why did she accept to play the game of truth or dare with them? She would have gone home with her sister and avoided all this feelings that had her messed up and confused all these years.
