I wasn"t sure how many days and nights it had been. I stopped counting after fifty. I wasn"t sure why Thoth hadn"t given up yet. He was determined, I had to give him that. Of course, that only led to another question. Why was I letting him come back day after day when I had no intention of giving in to him? If I was feeling kind to myself, I liked the idea that Ra was having to struggle through ruling his domain without someone as important as Thoth by his side. If I was being more honest, I liked his company. There was something about sitting side by side while he told me about things that happened between the other gods at Karnak, or stories of a time even earlier than ours.
