HAYDEN'S POV
I had just returned from work on a hectic day, very stressed, tired, and muscles aching. I was currently relaxing in my Range Rover when I received an unexpected call from Mom.
To me, a call from Mom is like signing your death warrant. I must say, she was more fierce than anybody I've killed.
I stared at the screen contemplating whether to receive the call or not. I knew better than anyone that ignoring her was suicide as she'd just keep calling till my phone caught fire.
Sighing, I picked up the phone only to hear a glass shattering scream over the phone."Hayden!, why the hell didn't you pick my phone earlier?, Hayden I'm talking to you".
She literally left no room for me to breathe let alone reply, yet she kept demanding a response from me.
Pursing my lips, I let the storm rage on until she finally calmed down, then I finally spoke.
"Sorry mom, I was caught up with something. I just left work and am on my way home."
Wrong answer! Her anger instantly flared like a violent hurricane and I swear, if I were to be in presence right now, I would be torn me to shreds. "Hayden why are you going home when I and your father have sleepless nights about you. Come over,we have something urgent to discuss with you. And I prepared your favorite meal. Your father and I are waiting. Drive safe love."
I knew my mom wouldn't cook my favorite food for nothing. It was either she wanted something or a favor.
Sighing again, I instructed the driver to turn the car around to my parent's villa.
Instructing my assistant to wake me up when we arrived, I leaned back and closed my eyes, more for the illusion of sleep and not actual rest.
My body wanted to collapse but my senses stayed alert. Since I had been trained at an early age not to be vulnerable, taking fake naps were already part of my daily life.
