Alissa POV
Today was the day I was going to meet the boss and fly solo on this thing. I was confident I could do it. Really, I was. Sarah explained everything to me very well and everybody seemed very nice and helpful. So why was I riddled with nerves again then? I was going to meet the big boss, so what? What was he going to do, eat me? This wasn’t some fairytale and he wasn’t the big bad wolf. He was just a man and everything would be fine. I just needed to calm down and get moving.
I looked at my wardrobe and decided to go with the same outfit I wore to my job interview. It had brought me luck then, why wouldn’t it do the same now? I put on the white blouse and light blue skirt and decided to go all the way and put on my high heels too.
I walked into the kitchen and made myself a good solid breakfast consisting of Froot Loops and strong coffee. I made sure to make enough coffee for Daisy as well. She kind of looked tired lately. She had said something about stress at work, but I was so wrapped up in the developments in my own life that I had been a bad friend and not properly asked her about it. I would fix that soon I promised myself. But for now the coffee had to do. I looked at the clock and freaked. I had taken way too long to get ready and I was running late. I quickly grabbed my bag and powerwalked out the door. I couldn’t run in these heels, so that was as fast as I could go.
I had missed the bus I wanted to take. That one would have taken me to the office with a nice amount of time to spare. But I was forced to take a later one. I did arrive at the office on time, but barely. I rushed to my desk and turned on the computer. I opened the schedule for today. First thing this morning the boss had a meeting and I needed to print out some documents for it. I opened the file and pressed ‘print’. I waited expectantly, but nothing happened. I pressed ‘print’ again. I glared at the printer, but no prints were coming out. Okay, no need to panic… Sarah told me this happened sometimes. What did she tell me again? Something about the ink cartridge I think. Yeah, I distinctly remember her talking to me about the ink. I walked over to the printer and opened the side where the ink was. I tried to take out the cartridge, but it wouldn’t budge. A nagging feeling started to form in the back of my mind. Something Sarah told me. Something important. Something about the ink. But I couldn’t remember and my nerves were getting the best of me. This was my first impression on the boss and I did not want him to come into the office expecting everything to be prepared for the meeting and me having to tell him that I couldn’t even print a document. That simply wouldn’t do. I dug in my heels and tugged at the ink cartridge with all my might. It started to budge and I started to feel relieved. And right before it came loose I remembered. “Don’t try to force the ink cartridge out, because the top might get loose and you will get ink all over you”, Sarah had told me. But it was too late. The ink cartridge came out of the printer and with it a wave of black ink came out as well and landed all over my crisp white blouse and my pale blue skirt.
As I stood there dripping with ink I heard footsteps coming towards the door of the office. The boss. Oh God, it was the boss. "This cannot be happening. Not now... Oh God...", I muttered to myself. I looked around me in a state of panic to see if there was anything I could do to salvage the situation, but I couldn’t find anything. My heart raced as I saw the doorknob turn.

David POV
Today was the day I was going to meet my new temporary PA. I had been out of town for an Alpha meeting all of last week, so I hadn’t met the PA yet. Sarah told me they were doing good and that she had all the confidence in the world that it would work out perfectly. She didn't want to tell me anything else about the new PA. She said she wanted me to be unbiased. That had made me suspicious that she hired some 70-year old shewolf who would insist on telling me everything about her 20 or so grandpups. I had voiced that concern to Sarah, who had rolled her eyes at me and had walked away. So I was in the dark as to what I was about to encounter.
I had a meeting first thing today, so I arrived at the office a little early to make sure all the preparations were in order. With a new PA I didn’t want to leave anything to chance. I was a little nervous for this whole new PA thing. Sarah had worked for me since forever and I will admit I was not the best with change. It even seemed to impact my wolf, Conall. He had been unusually jittery this morning.
I opened the door of the office building and it hit me straight in the face. That smell... It smelled delicious. It was a combination of lavender and something lemony. It smelled like summer and I loved it. What was it though? Did the cleaners use a new cleaning product? I kept sniffing the air as I walked towards my office. The scent seemed to get stronger as I went.
I felt my wolf getting more and more worked up. He was pacing back and forth in my mind. Excitement radiated off of him and I felt him pushing me forward towards the scent. I had never experienced Conall this exhilarated before. I mean, he got excited for battles and stuff, but not like this. He was pacing in circles and was barely able to contain himself.
Wait a minute... I stopped dead in my tracks. Mouthwatering scent? Excited wolf? Oh no... Surely it wouldn't be... After all this time? I had accepted that this wasn't going to happen a long time ago and I had actually grown to think that it not happening was a good thing. Yet here we were. I was briefly considering walking back outside again and ignoring the whole thing. But Conall didn't give me the option.
“MATE!” he growled. “GO TO MATE!!”
I felt him pushing to the surface. All I could do to stop him from taking over was following the delicious scent that was wafting in my direction. My feet seemed to move by themselves and I picked up the pace. The scent definitely seemed to be coming from the direction of my office. It got stronger and stronger the closer I got and Conall was now yipping in my mind. He kept repeating the word ‘mate’ over and over. When I stood in front of the door leading to the office before mine where Sarah's desk was I paused.
"This cannot be happening. Not now... Oh God...", I heard a female voice frantically mutter. Had she felt it too? The mate pull? Was she as unpleasantly surprised by it as I was? I swear I could hear her heart racing. I braced myself for a second and then I opened the door.
