Exactly at the center of Mysinda is its capital Murthsminne city, known throughout the world as the magic see. It is the birthplace of magic. The city houses various magical schools of all classes from the Trainee tier to the Imperial tier. It also protects the greatest and largest collection of knowledge in the entire world, the Great Library of Mysinda. The great library has stood ever since the very first Archsage, Mysinda Auvalour, created it. She created it as a record of the entire history of Reversia, and ever since its creation, everything that has been discovered and happened are written. From the rise and fall of empires to the invention of technologies and spells, the knowledge that it contains is priceless.
The road to Mysinda is a straight road from Yalba. It follows along a river named Miyatsu that goes through Murthsmmine city. The landscape to the Magic See is filled with wonders. There are plants that bloom crystals and crystals that bear fruit and flowers. All the monsters that we encounter are magical. From goblin shamans to shadow ravens, they fought us using spells.
The events that transpired in Yalba have awakened my desire to get stronger. When we would take a break from travelling, I would spar with Franz and hone my sword techniques and learn spells. My arsenal of spells is expanding. I always cast Fireball, the most basic of offensive spells, back then, but now I use Incinerate, an advanced fire element offensive spell. Though these spells burn a lot of MP, my maximum MP also increased with the recent level gains that I had.
Every experience that Zealle gains during battle also adds to my experience. Currently, I’m at level 30 with common, tactical, and battle skills all greater than level five.
As we travel along the road to Murthsminne city, we see people picnicking in the middle of the meadow. Among them is a girl that resembles Rei. My memories flash back to the girl who gave me a piece of steak and welcomed me with open arms to their simple home. If I have been strong enough, Rei would have been with us to the capital. But she stayed with her mother, taking care of her and managing what is left of their restaurant.
“I know that girl!” Keith says. He levitates toward the crowd of picnickers. They make contact and the black girl with the curly hair hugs Keith. She waves towards us.
“So you two must be Franz and Josh,” the girl smiles as we approach her. “I hope Keith has not been a handful.”
“Guys, this is Melojean. She is the headmistress’s daughter.” Keith introduces.
“Hi, you already know my name,” I introduce myself. “I am in deep gratitude for the help that your mother lent me.”
“So, you’re from another world?” she examines me, waving her hand around and creating magic circles that appeared all over my body. “It’s true! Your status and your magical signature is different.”
The rest of the crowd hears Melojean and looks at me with awe. They look like they saw a huge celebrity.
“What brings you to Murthsminne?” Melojean asks.
“There is a spell that can bring me back home. An acquaintance of mine, also from my world knows of it, but the spell requires a huge amount of magic power,” I reply.
“So you seek a magical source with a huge amount of magical energy to power the spell,” one of people in the crowd adds.
“But what exact or approximate amount, do you need?” another person asks.
“I do not know,” I answer.
“You said that it is a spell that returns you to your world,” Melojean says. “If that is the case then it could be a light or shadow element spell.”
“I agree,” another member of the picnickers speak. “The light and shadow elements are the only ones that are capable of bending time and space, perhaps even creating a portal to and from another dimension.”
“This is no place to discuss things,” Melojean interrupts. “We should continue inside the walls of Maramus.”
Among the schools of magic in Murthsminne, Maramus caters to Royal class magic users. It is ranked as the best school for learning Royal class spells and enchantments. It is a large campus with baroque architecture that sits to the east of the great library. The Great Library of Mysinda is a giant tower that looks like it touches the sky. It has markings and designs that portrays a story. I see a relief of a man holding a staff, riding a dragon.
Franz looks for an inn, while Keith and I continue to Maramus, where the entire academe discusses the spell that I seek. They gathered inside a lecture hall.
“Do you have other clues about this spell?” a student asks.
“It is called Reversal Portal,” I answer. Murmurs and small discussions descend the entire room. A lot of people shook their heads in disagreement. Eventually, silence looms in. Melojean steps forward.
“The principal says that he has read about the Reversal Portal in a book in the forbidden collection of the great library,” Melojean says.
“Do you have a pass for the great library?” the principal asks.
“I have a pass,” Keith answers.
“One pass is for one person. The forbidden collection can only be accessed by Imperial class magic users,” the principal adds.
The session in Maramus ends. We meet up with Franz outside the school building and continues to the inn. It is an inn at the outer part of the city. It is beside the river Sepsti, one of the rivers that flow through the city.
“I need to be in the Imperial class in order to access the forbidden collection,” Keith stares at his hand. Zealle flies towards him and lands on Keith’s hand.
“There must be some way that we can access the forbidden collection,” I answer.
“You can defeat the librarian and earn her approval to access the forbidden collection,” a voice from outside the window says. It was Melojean and she floated by the window.
“We can defeat her,” Franz utters.
“You cannot enter the magic library unless you are a wielder of magics,” Melojean replies. “Thus, it will only have to be Josh, Keith, and me.”
“You?” Keith answers in surprise. “You’re going to help us?”
“Of course, Josh is extremely fascinating,” Melojean looks at me as if she is looking at a celebrity. “You must have thought so too.” Melojean enters through the window and attempts to pet Zealle. But Zealle spites him and rejects her advances. “You have an ice drake! Now things have gotten more interesting. The last ice dragon is said to be the familiar of the current Archsage, and it already died. But this changes everything.”
“Let’s focus on how we can access the forbidden collection, Melojean.” Keith says, bummered out.
“There is a secret passage that we can take that leads directly to the librarian’s pedestal. She should detect us once we are inside so we should hurry. Once we are before her presence, she will punish us for trespassing and will fight us. She may teleport us out of the library or, worst case scenario, kill us. It’s a risky yet efficient plan, I must say,” Melojean explains.
“That’s your plan?” Keith answers.
“It’s better than having no plan,” Melojean replies. “Meet me in front of Maramus tomorrow morning.” Melojean flies out through the window.
Keith leaves, carrying his books and tomes with him. I practice with Franz the entire day, incorporating spells with my attacks. The training drained all my MP and left me in fatigue. Franz helps me get back to the inn. Keith came back when night came and directly went to sleep.
“Are you alright?” Franz opens a conversation.
“I’m fine.”
“Listen, about what Melojean said, I will not be able to help you in the great library. I wish I could but the circumstances…I cannot break the rules.”
“I understand,” I reply. “Thank you for the thought, Franz. But, I must learn to depend on myself. I cannot rely on you nor Keith all the time. I must grow strong, strong enough to go back on my own.”
Franz nods and leaves quietly. I feed Zealle and put her to sleep. I eventually followed, forgetting the thoughts that I have with Franz.
