As I wore the teal-flushed garb that Marcus gave me, I felt the winds of change from across the plain blowing against me. I changed from the torn uniform to this garb that made me truly feel like a warrior from another world. It looked like I was cosplaying, but the garb had something different to it. The soft yet durable fabric and the ornate designs of the garb looked like it was made for royalty. The collar was lined with a shiny fabric extending down to where the seams closed. What I still wore was this short skirt because it was good for mobility.
Before formally leaving, Marcus gave me a bag which he referred to as a mystic receptacle. It looked like and ordinary leather pouch. It was as small as a backpack, but according to Marcus, it could contain up to a hundred objects regardless of size. Inside the bag were food items, a pouch containing a hundred gold, a map of Reversia, a blanket, and a pouch for storing water. Before I could leave, Marcus handed me a short sword. It was light and shone as I took it off from its scabbard. The blade was as clear as water and as swung it around the wind whispered with the movement of the blade. The maroon and leather scabbard complemented the color of the silver hilt.
"I forged that blade myself," Marcus said as I sheathed the blade. "Or at least, my past self did. Anyway, that blade is called the Whisperer. As you might have heard it, it whispers when you use it."
"Thank you for this gift," I strapped the scabbard's belt around my waist and carried the mystic receptacle as a backpack.
"On your journey, remember that slow and steady wins everything. You don't have to rush things. You don't need to win always. You can take a rest and relax." He pats my shoulder as he gave those words of wisdom, words that do not really apply to me in the real world. "Don't need to win always," that line contradicts my personal beliefs. I always aimed on winning and I always did, crushing every opponent that dared stand against my way. It is not just my personal beliefs, but the intense pressure that society and my family exert on me. It has gradually become a norm for myself, that being second place or losing always meant failure.
"I will," was the only response I could give him. I couldn't tell him what was against my beliefs, not with the smile of confidence that he showed me. With a bow, I left and began my journey. I went eastward. My destination was the city of Jyria. My goals were clear, to learn of any way to return home.
The morning on the plains was great. Dewdrops filled the meadows and plains sparkling as the morning sunshine shone. The wind was cool and refreshing, which filled me with ease. There were no monster that I encountered on the plain, must be because of their instinct to stay away from foes stronger than them. And I must say, I am now in level five and is in the Outsider class. That also raises another question in my head. Marcus never heard of the Outsider class before, he doesn't know its abilities and talents.
As I neared the edged of the plain, I began to hear nharmoles. I went on alert and as they jumped out of the ground to attack. They were three of them and I was able to defeat them all without even dodging. The short sword seemed to guide my hand on where to strike, as if it controlled my body when I defended. I could see time itself slowing down, as I moved in to strike.
"Nharmole horde defeated, gained 18 experience. 68 experience points needed for level 6. Loot found, nharmole horn."
"Loot? It seems monsters leave items before they vanish." I got the horn and put it in the mystic receptacle. It could be handy in future events.
The eastern edge of Croverre, unlike the southern edge which borders a forest, ends from where the eastern mountains start. I grabbed the map of Reversia from the receptacle. From what the map showed, Croverre is in the southern part of the continent. To its east is Jyria. To its north is the capital city, Margajia. To its west are territories and kingdoms. And to its south are islands. Just beyond these mountains lies the city of Jyria.
Not letting my momentum be stopped, I scaled the mountains with everything I got. Thankfully, there was a path that made things easier. The range is also not steep making things easier for me. However, as soon as I got higher, monsters began to attack. The first to assault me was a pitch black raven with blade-sharp talons that looked like they could cut anything that they held.
"Slow and steady," Marcus' words echoed inside my head. Instead of confronting the black bird head on, I decided to fight safely reading its movements, where it attempted to strike, how it attacked, and its status. I made its move flying up high and swooping down as fast as it could with its talons ready to strike. I moved to confuse it, but it was still able to follow me, wherever I went. I received damage equal to 6 HP. After attacking me, it seemed to take a rest for a little while, flying up high again with another swoop. It kept this pattern over and over again, until I figured out a way to make it stop once and for all.
When the large raven was swooping towards me at an insane velocity, I unsheathed my weapon and readied myself to strike. I had no formal training of swordplay neither any from of sword technique back on the real world. So I had to compromise and let Whisperer guide my body. As the black raven approached, I thrust the sword into it, ultimately stopping it in its flight.
"End Raven defeated, gained 9 experience points. 59 experience points needed for level 6. Loot found, Black feather."
As I formally begin my adventures in this world, what dangers and mysteries await me?
