Chapter Ten -

Adaline’s POV Rory and I sit on the comfiest window chair, in the mini library, it’s beautiful in here. All dark wood and deep green chairs with soft ambient lighting. Just watching the party wind down while we chat about anything and nothing now. She’s lovely in every way, she has bronzed skin and beautiful aqua-blue eyes, and her personality is just as lovely. I watch from the corner of my eye as she yawns again. “I think it may be time to retire for the night Rory” I say softly, “I think you may be right Ada” she replies with a smile. “Good night, sleep well” I reply as she walks out the door. I sit comfortably in the silence for a good ten minutes before I hear the door open again, I don’t turn round I just continue gazing out the window. His beautiful smell wraps around me in waves, it’s like fresh warm vanilla cookies. He walks over and slides in opposite me. “Rory told me all about Erica, so you don’t need to explain,” I say. He sighs “I’m sorry about her, she feels I should be hers, and hers only, when I realised how horrible she was to Rory I knew that Erica would never be good enough to be Luna Queen, never mind a higher in commands mate. She got her karma almost instantly today after you and Rory left” he replies. I look at him questioningly, he chuckles “I guess you’ve not seen Marius then? Turns out Erica was his mate and he rejected her” he says, my eyes widen visibly in shock. Wow, karma did get her. “Oh wow, I’ll have to check Marius is doing okay, but first I need to tell you what my father told me,” I say. He looks on expectantly as I start explaining... Marius POV Oh for Pete’s sake. Why did she have to be my mate? The pain of the rejection has gone now, but my heart feels hollow. I feel hollow, I think a training session is in order I just need to find someone to train with. I telepathically try to reach Adaline “Ada you free?” “Sorry Marius, I’m just telling Elijah about what my father told me, are you okay? Elijah said she was your mate” “I’m fine just hoping someone can spar and train with me for a bit” I reply, “I’ll get someone on it for you” she replies. I head to the gym in the cellar, as I arrive there are 4 werewolves, Darius and Logan waiting to spar. Thank you, Adaline! “Ada told us you needed to spar these are Patrick, Matt, Aro and Kai” says Darius pointing to the wolves “We are going to show them some moves for battles with vampires” he continues. “Thank you, let’s get to it” I reply, taking off my top and getting ready to warm up. We sparred for around 3 hours I think, the wolves got a mind-link from Elijah saying to clean up and head up for supper. So we all respectively went for showers and headed to the dining hall. As I walk in I notice that Elijah has a haunted sort of look about him, but he’s sat next to Ada and he’s got his hand on her thigh so he must be okay with it all. I mean she’s going to be the biggest badass around so no one will want to be on her bad side. As I sit down opposite her the door opens again and I smell her, she’s not as enticing as before and looking at her after the rejection I realise her hair is a bottle dye job, not very well done and even though she has some curves she ruins them with what she’s wearing, she walks up to the table looking at me sadly before averting her gaze to Elijah and saying “Elijah can I speak with you in private for a moment?” Elijah looks to Ada, who nods. He gets up and says “You have two minutes, use them wisely” and heads out the door. She follows but I notice the door isn’t fully closed there’s a slight gap where the latch hasn’t caught. “Elijah I want to go to the Blue Crescent pack for a few weeks, to see my sister, I need time to recuperate, my wolf is weak and so am I after the rejection from Marius,” she says as her voice breaks, and I feel for her, I do but I can’t be with someone that will speak and treat people including two princesses like that. “That’s fine Erica, I will organise for you to leave first thing in the morning and go get your stuff together” Elijah replies and comes straight back in without seeing if she needs anything else. He must be pretty pissed with her and probably overwhelmed with what Ada has told him. Amos POV I sit at the head of the table, I know Ada has told Elijah everything, you can tell from the way he keeps casting glances at me, like I’ll die any second, he seems to be handling it pretty well though, and they seem a little closer. Melinda told me about the mating marks and I’m hoping Elijah wins Ada over before then so they can do it at the right time. The food is being served so we all dig in, whilst little conversations bubble over the table, I know Rory has gone to bed early, she didn’t sleep all last night because of was excited for Ada to come back with Elijah and me. I hope I can grab Elijah for a quick chat before he goes to bed so I link him *Elijah, can you come into my office two minutes after supper?* I say, he nods his head in confirmation for me, I hope I can ease his weariness. Elijah steps into my office with me, and we take a seat. “So I know Adaline has told you everything, I can tell from the way you are looking at me.” “Yes she told me everything, and we don’t know who will die” he replies looking saddened. “Elijah the moment I heard that prophecy ten years ago, I made my peace with it, if it’s me then I’m ready, I’ve made you and Rory, raised you both beautifully and yes I won’t see any grandkids but I’ll always be up there looking down on you proudly,” I say sincerely. I see the tears well in his eyes, “I know it’s hard, but I’ve had a good life” I say. “I know, it’ll just be hard father, who will I look to for advice?” He replies. “Son if it’s me, you’ll always have an amazing father-in-law in Alexander, he will help you at all times, the allegiance has been going on for 30 years now we just kept quiet about it,” I reply and he looks shocked, I smile before sending him off to find Adaline and hopefully steal her heart with his charm.
