Amos POV -
As we are all getting ready to leave Alexander’s kingdom, I sit on the edge of the bed after packing up all of my things. Poor Adaline, I saw her walk past to go to her room yesterday after speaking with her father, she looked trance, I know it’s a lot to take in, everything she thought she knew about her ancestors, about her mother's parents wasn’t a lie, just a lot of important details hidden. I hope she manages to deal with it all and save the world, my father Antonio has turned into a lunatic since the black witch mated with him to use him as her puppet. And Kerwin who has always been dark, has joined forces with them. I know I need to speak with Elijah too and tell him I know that Adaline is his mate and that I’m more than okay with that.
Arriving in the entrance hall, I see almost everyone who is coming back with us is here. “The rest are outside Amos” Adaline says, sounding slightly dejected, I look towards my son and see that he’s looking at her with concern. I feel sorrow for him, knowing his hard journey is just starting. “All ready to head out then.” I turn to Alexander “Thank you for having us Alexander, a pleasure as always. See you soon” I shake his hand and give him a one-armed hug.
Once we arrived safely at the airport, we split into three different planes all setting off at different times. I will be going with the royal guard on the first plane, Adaline and Elijah on the second with their guards and the rest of the warriors at 11 pm tonight, so twelve hours from now. I wonder if Adaline will tell Elijah everything on the plane. It’s only a 2-hour journey but you never know. Their plane sets off in about four hours, so they’ll probably do a little shopping since our climate is a lot warmer than Adaline is used to, she’ll need some cooler clothes.
Adaline’s POV
Elijah knows something isn’t right, but I just currently can’t tell him anything til I’ve wrapped my head around it. Amos' plane has just boarded. So now shopping it is, since all my clothes are for a colder climate than what theirs is. See we live in the north and they live right down south. I’m not one for strappy tops, so I need to find some short-sleeved tops and maybe shorts, I’ll grab more trousers and a couple of jumpers too as the weather is unpredictable, I have a suitcase of clothes I’ve brought but nothing is suited for warmer weather. As I walk around inspecting clothes and putting things I like over my arm I can feel Elijah’s eyes on me like a hawk as he wanders around after me almost aimlessly, like he isn’t aware he’s doing it.
Once I feel like there’s enough to fill a suitcase I head to the tills to pay, it’s taken me two hours to do along with grabbing more trainers and some sandals in two different colours since I wasn’t sure which pair I liked better, the black pair won’t go with one of the dresses so the gold pair can be worn with that. Once I’ve paid I go over to some seats and start to pack my empty suitcase so I can pop it in with the other luggage, Elijah sits next to me twiddling his thumbs like he’s working up the courage to say something.
As I put the last thing in the suitcase and zip it I feel like now would be a good time to get something to eat, I’ve got just under two hours, so food and then it’ll be time to board our plane. I plan on sleeping all of the journey since I didn’t sleep much last night.
I find an Italian restaurant to get food from, I can't decide between meatball spaghetti or a tagliatelle carbonara. “Can I join you both?” says Marius, I didn’t even see him come over. “Yes, of course, Marius, pull up a chair” I reply.
I feel Elijah’s eyes boring into me and say “This is Marius, he’s one of our best warriors and one of my best friends too.”
“Nice to meet you Marius” he says, “same to you, Your Highness” Marius replies as he looks at the menu. The waitress comes to take our order, and I end up with carbonara, Elijah picks pasta puttanesca, and Marius the spaghetti and meatballs. As the waitress leaves Marius says “Don’t worry Ada you can have half of mine” I chuckle and say thank you, while Elijah looks at me curiously “I can never decide between meatballs and carbonara” he chuckles and says why not just get both then, I smile “because I don’t want to fill up too much before the flight.” The conversation flows nicely while we wait for our food about nothing and everything. Once we’ve finished we pay and head to give the rest of our luggage over. The tannoy says it’s time to board, and with a full stomach I’m feeling sleepy now, I find my seat on the plane, buckle in with a pillow and close my eyes, I can feel that Elijah has come to sit next to me but I’m already on my way to dreamland.
Elijah’s POV
Something is definitely on Adaline’s mind, I want to be alone with her to help her fix whatever is wrong, but I don’t get the chance we’ve all been in the shops for them to get more summery clothes, and then Marius joined us for lunch. Now the plane is packed with everyone, and she’s fallen asleep, it’s all getting on my last nerve. I watch as Adaline sleeps before looking up to see that the air hostess has asked if I would like anything, anything at all she says suggestively, urgh. “I’ll have a whiskey, neat, and some Pringles please,” I reply. What a combination I think, Pringles and bloody whiskey. “So Elijah, what do you plan to do with our little Ada?” Marius says as he grabs a tube of Pringles also. “I don’t plan on hurting her if that’s what you mean” I reply. “Good, but that’s not what I mean, you are both veryyyyyy attracted to each other. Am I to assume you are mates? Or do you just fancy the pants off her?” “ I’m sure she’ll tell you when she’s ready, Marius” I reply.
The rest of the plane journey went past in silence, I slept some of it, and just as the plane started landing Adaline woke up. She smiles and stretches just as the plane doors open ready to let everyone off.
One step closer to our kingdom, one step closer to hopefully finding out what’s bugging Adaline. My mother meets us on the tarmac off the plane. “Elijah my love,” she says as she pulls me in for a hug. “Hi Mam, how are you?” “Better with you here dear.” She replies. “Mam this is Princess Adaline” “Your Majesty” Adaline bows. “Oh dear you don’t need to call me Majesty, please just call me, Lianna” my mother says. Adaline nods her head, as we all head to the few cars and bus waiting to transport us to the castle.
