Chapter Four -

833 Words
Killian POV - I was sitting in my office with my Beta Luke and Gamma Drake discussing some new business we had taken on. "So, what's the plan, Alpha?" Luke asked. "Well, we have 2 new jobs in Sim River." I said absentmindedly. "The human town?" Drake chimed in. I pulled a file out of my desk and opened it to the first page. "Yes, it's just a few construction jobs, nothing crazy." I said, not looking up from the page. "When do we start?" they said in unison. "Tomorrow, we will need about a dozen guys to do the work. Can you gather the crew to be ready to leave in the morning?" Like always, they were already on it. I was glad I made them my second and third in command. They were my best friends after all. I've been Alpha for 4 years now, and I don't know what I would do without them. Once Luke and Drake left my office, I finished some reports and orders for materials we would need for the new jobs. By the time I was done, it was almost 10pm. I hadn't eaten yet and was just realizing my stomach was grumbling. I mind linked an Omega to bring some leftovers from dinner to my office. Within 5 minutes, a soft knock brought my attention to the door, where an Omega stood with a steaming plate of food. I thanked her kindly and she was gone. My plate was piled high with roast beef, potato wedges and a mix of vegetables, with a can of soda. I finished my late dinner in no time at all. Feeling full and satisfied, I decided it was time for bed. I have a long day tomorrow. I stopped by the kitchen to return my plate. "Thank you so much for dinner ladies! As always, delicious." I smiled at the Omegas in the kitchen. "You're very welcome, Alpha" said one. "We are glad you liked it!" said another. I made my way to my room on the third floor to get some sleep. When I entered my room, I had a quick shower, threw on a t-shirt and sweatpants and crawled into bed. Sleep took over me quickly. The next morning, I was up early, as per usual. I made my way down to the cafeteria for breakfast. Entering the cafeteria, I got the usual nods and hellos from pack members. I found my way to the table where Luke and Drake were sitting, at the back of the cafeteria. "Morning Alpha!" they said in unison. "Morning guys." "When should we be ready to head out?" Drake asked while stuffing his face with bacon. "I would like to be on the road in an hour." I checked my watch. We made some more small talk until we finished breakfast. An hour later, we were loaded and ready to go. Luke and Drake were in the Jeep with me, and the rest of the crew was split up into a few other cars. The materials were delivered to the site before we got into town. Once we arrived, we got to work pretty quickly. A few hours later, the guys wanted some lunch, so I hopped in the Jeep and drove around town looking for somewhere to grab lunch. After driving around jamming out to some music for about 10 minutes, I saw a charming little cafe with the sign reading "The Black Cottage Cafe". I parked the car close to the door and hopped out. I started walking to the front door when I smelled something off, it wasn't human. When I opened the door to the cafe, I was hit with the most amazing smell. It smelled sweet and earthy, like vanilla and sandalwood. It invaded my entire body. I looked up to see a beautiful women sitting by the window reading a book. She had long brown hair, silky smooth ivory latte skin, and the most beautiful piercing grey eyes I'd ever seen. She looked up to meet my eyes and I saw something flash across her eyes, like silver, and I froze. "Mate..." I whispered. *Gasp* I stood there holding her gaze for what seemed like forever. Until the woman at the front desk pulled me away from my racing mind. "Uh, what can I do for you sir?" she asked. I cleared my throat and tore myself away from her gaze. "I need a dozen orders of burgers and fries, and sodas," I said hastily. "It's for my crew." "Sure thing hon." she wrote down my order and I paid quickly. I slowly walked over to the girl sitting at the small table in the corner, never breaking eye contact. I sat down uninvited but she didn't seem to object. Her eyes were so beautiful, I could almost get lost in them. I realized we had been sitting in silence for a few moments, so I shook my head and cleared my throat. "Hi..."
