Angus POV -
"WHAT?! THEY ESCAPED!" I slammed my hands down on my brother's wooden desk, making it shake.
My goddess he was old-fashioned. My beta, Jeffrey, stood in front of my desk, unfazed by my anger. He was a good Beta, hence why I kept him as Beta after my brother was killed.
"They had one of the SUVs hidden in the woods," Jeffrey explained.
"Can't you track it?! Don't all of our SUVs have location trackers?! I yelled.
"Gaia disabled it probably before their escape."
"DAMNIT" I couldn't contain my anger any more.
I grabbed the edge of my desk and flipped it, breaking the reading lamp that was sitting on top of it and sending all my paperwork flying. I pinched the bridge of my nose and exhaled deeply.
"I knew that brat was going to be a problem." I complained. "How do you plan on locating my niece and my Luna?"
"I have warriors following their tire tracks. That is our only lead so far", Jeffrey deadpanned.
"Get out!"
Jeffrey left me in my office. I was livid. Why would they want to leave? I didn't abuse them. I wasn't particularly nice to Gaia and took away her position as future Alpha, but I don't see how that would make her want to run away. I pondered with myself for a while before I made my way to my niece's bedroom. I opened her bedroom door slowly. Nothing looked out of place, nothing looked missing at first. Then, I noticed a photo was missing off her nightstand. I opened her closet and found a few clothes were missing and a couple of pairs of shoes. Slamming the door behind me, I left unsatisfied with the lack of evidence I found, making the assumption that Lilian's room was relatively the same.
"I will find you Gaia and Lilian, you WILL be my Luna!"
Gaia POV -
We drove for a few hours East, 4 to be exact. We finally stopped in a small town called Sim River. Sim River was a small town situated on a river bend known for its elaborate legends. Legends about werewolves, witches, and vampires. As supernatural beings we kept to ourselves, keeping away from humans when possible. We pulled up to a small cafe in town with the name 'Black Cottage Cafe". It looked exactly how it sounded, it was a cozy black little cottage. The cafe wasn't open yet, since it was 4 in the morning. So we felt it best to walk around the little town, looking for somewhere to stay and rest. We came across a little motel a few blocks away from the cafe, The Sim River Inn. Luckily, they were open so we went inside to check in. Upon opening the door, to my right there was what I assumed to be a lobby of sorts: a couple of couches, a few dim lamps and a fireplace. To my left was the front desk with a window. On the desk there was a little bell that read 'Ring for Service'.
*Ding*
A perky young girl came bouncing out of the back office. She had long blonde hair in a braid and sky blue eyes.
"Hey there! Welcome to the Sim River Inn. How can I help you?"
"Hi, we just need a room for a night or 2 please" I replied.
"Of course! Right this way!"
She grabbed a set of keys which I assumed were our room keys. She led us up a set of stairs to the second floor to a room with the number 201.
"Here is your room. There is a complimentary breakfast every morning from 7-10am in the dining room on the first floor. If you need anything at all, my name is Thalia."
"Thank you Thalia" my mother replied.
Thalia practically skipped back down the hall and down the stairs. Both exhausted, my mother and I crawled into the queen sized bed for a well-needed rest.
The thundering sound of footsteps approached me. Warriors came racing towards me, determined to capture me and take me back to my uncle.
"Gaia just come with us, don't make this hard on yourself!" One of the warriors yelled.
I didn't recognize him from my pack, but there's no doubt my uncle sent him. As he got closer, I tried to run but my feet wouldn't move. I was grounded in place, almost frozen. I started to panic, desperate to try and get away before I was taken away. I tried and tried but my feet wouldn't budge. Suddenly, a hand reached out and grabbed me. Pulling me close and away from danger. I felt warm and safe, it felt familiar, but I couldn't place it. The danger had melted away and it was just me standing in an embrace. I looked up to see the most beautiful brown eyes I had ever seen, like firewood and honey. Before I could comprehend what was happening, the figure took my lips in theirs.
*GASP* I shot up from my sleeping state, panting and sweaty. I brought my fingers up to my now tingling lips. I was surprised but also a bit confused. Who was the figure? What does this mean? My mother was sleeping soundly next to me, so I laid back down and pondered what our next step would be.
