White roses and lilies of the valley covered Seacliff Estate as far as the eye could see. Private helicopters circled low overhead in a ceremonial salute. I stopped in astonishment. It was the exact wedding I had imagined since childhood. Lilies of the valley were my favorite flowers, but Nathan had never once given me any. The wedding march began, and hundreds of guests turned toward me. I tightened my grip on Elliot's hand without thinking. "Don't be afraid," he whispered in my ear. "I'm here." He laced his fingers through mine and led me down the aisle, one step at a time, never taking his eyes off me. When we exchanged wedding rings, Elliot looked at me with unmistakable tenderness.
