~Freya~
His lips curved into a smile. I couldn't see his face fully because of the darkness, but I had this gnawing feeling that I shouldn't have anything to do with him.
“Someone who knows what it feels like to be betrayed,” he responded.
I became more wary of him.
“What do you mean by that?” I said, my tone now cautious.
“Why don't you get into the car and let's talk about it?” He requested. I stared at him for a long time.
‘Do not get in, Freya; it could be a trap,’ Kiera warned. I bit my lips, unsure of what to do; after a second thought, I got into the car ready to face whatever consequences lay ahead of me.
I know that's a foolish thing for me to do, but then nobody will know if I'm missing or not.
I turned around to see him clearly, and for a moment I was stunned. The man in front of me was a handsome man; my gaze moved from his perfectly shaped eyebrows to his marble-grey eyes and then to his aristocratic nose that stood so firmly, so sharp and pointed. My gaze trailed down to his lips; subconsciously, I bit mine. Overall, I could sense the danger oozing out of him. His aura screams deadly and powerful, but I just couldn't understand how he knew my name.
What does he know about me?
“What do you mean by, 'You know how it feels to be betrayed'?” I asked again.
“Let’s just say I happen to be in the same situation you are in,” he replied, but that still made me more confused.
“I have no idea who you are, so why are you speaking like you know me? How do you know my name, and what situation do you think I am in?” I retorted, feeling so angry at the fact that this man might have been stalking me in the past. Whether he is drop-dead gorgeous or not, he is scaring the s**t out of me.
“I can help you get even with him, Caius,” he said instead of answering my question.
“Even with Caius? What are you talking about? How do you know what happened between Caius and me? I didn't even tell you s**t about getting even with Caius. I have no issue with him, so why would I want to do that? The heck, why do you sound like a creep? I should have listened to my instincts and not answer you,” I shouted, ready to bolt out of the car.
I was glad the door wasn't locked, so somehow I felt safe. Just as I was about to leave, he held my wrist, stopping me from leaving. My heart thudded, afraid that this might really be the end of my miserable life.
“Watch this and tell me if you still don't want to get even with him,” the strange man said, bringing out his phone.
I stared at him, wondering if I should watch this or not. Is this another way of k********g me?
I don't know… I feel scared, and not because he might really kidnap me but because of what he was about to show me.
He gave me a reassuring look and played the video. It showed Caius making an announcement online stating, Lyselle is now his mate. I didn't have the heart to watch it; it's just been a few hours after I had left the pack, and now he is parading Lyselle as his mate; he even made a live post about it.
“Turn it off; I do not want to see this. It's Caius’s life, and he can do whatever it is he wants to do; after all, I had rejected him,” I said, turning my face away, not letting him see the rogue tears that escaped my eyelids. I wiped it off quickly and sniffed.
“You need to watch this to see if you really don't want to get back at him. Do you think other pack members would accept you in their pack after his announcement?” He queried. I could feel rage underneath his voice.
What happened?
Why is he doing this?
Does he have anything to do with Lyselle?
Is it because of Lyselle he is doing this?
“I’m not the first Luna who had lost her position; some pack would still accept me into their pack, and you, why are you doing this? Is it because of Lyselle? Did she dump you too?” I snapped at him, angry that he is trying to shove in my face how much of a failure I am.
What the heck is wrong with people trying to bring me down?
Why do they have to keep saying things they know would hurt me?
I snarled at him and sniffed.
“That’s not why the other pack won't let you into their pack. Caius made an announcement stating how you were the one who planned with rogues to attack the pack because you were jealous of Lyselle getting his attention, and then as a result, your pup was killed in the process. He explained how hurt and angry he was at you and that's why he rejected you; right now, you are blacklisted from all the pack, apart from mine,” He stated coldly, and my eyes widened.
“No, you are lying. Caius might be a fool for Lyselle, but he won't do that to me. Caius won't lie against me; he knows I have no hand in it, and I was the one who rejected him, not the other way around,” I protested, not believing his words.
“Maybe he is afraid of the backlash he would receive from other packs when they come to hear he neglected his mate and pup for his ex?” He retorted, but I still didn't believe his words.
The stranger didn't say anything; he just switched to the next video, and I watched it. Hearing Caius lie against me with Lyselle wailing like a saint made me furious.
Neglecting me wasn't enough; he had to tarnish my image with it too.
I trembled. My body shook with rage; I was hurt and betrayed.
All I did was love him, and what did I get in return? Betrayal.
“So now are you ready to let me help you?”
